Adjust the light or dark interface for Sigil.

I can't find the light interface option for Sigil; I can only adjust it to light or dark based on Windows' display mode, not specifically for Sigil itself. Can someone please tell me how to set a light interface for Sigil independently, Thanks!

You can't. Sigil's light/dark theme goes with Windows' light/dark theme. If you want light apps with a dark system (or vice versa) customize your system colors.

May I suggest this as a possible new feature? I've just bumped into this issue myself.

I have Windows on dark mode, but I generally prefer having my programmes on light theme. I don't know if this is the case with Sigil, but I've noticed that, when certain programmes switched to Qt6, the light and dark themes were invariably connected to Windows light and dark mode. After a while, in some cases, an update allowed the user to choose the theme they wanted.

Windows itself allows for dark Windows mode with light apps (or vice versa). Why not accomplish the same thing that way?

The ability that a specifc program level to be light when the OS says dark and visa-versa is not something all os platforms support. As of now, we follow Qt6 which is set by the OS theme, not separately. The ability to set it otherwise although added to Qt6 recently is not supported yet by Sigil, nor are there currently plans to add it as there appears to be no real benefit to the end user.

So would you please explain why on earth you want a dark theme for all other programs but not Sigil, or visa-versa? What is the benefit to have glaring white windows against a dark os theme?

One thing that seems to work requires setting the QT_QPA_PLATFORM environment variable to "windows:darkmode=0" (without the quotes). But doing so would force all Qt6 (6.5+) programs to run in light mode regardless if the system was set to dark. If you really wanted to just target Sigil, you'd need to create a batch/cmd file to set the variable before launching Sigil.

There is no converse option to force Sigil to run in dark mode when Window is running in dark mode.

What I did say (please refer to my original message) is that I have Windows, as an operating system, on dark mode, as it's more comforting to my eyes. However, when it comes to spending time on a particular programme, I generally struggle with dark themes: I need light colours to make the experience agreeable to me.

Therefore, I'm kindly requesting from Sigil what I've already requested from other programmes: if possible, I'd like to be able to use the light theme without having to switch to light mode on Windows.

Scribus is corrently in the process of implementing this feature, and qBitTorrent has recently done that.

I'm not a developer and I have no idea how hard it is to implement this. All I can say is that I'd appreciate having this feature if somebody else thinks it's a good idea and is willing to implement it.

I've given you two options to accomplish what you want - with no new Sigil feature necessary. One of those will need to suffice; as no magic checkbox will be forthcoming anytime soon. There's just not enough need to justify the work that would be required to code such a feature.
