I advise you to set up a local GIT repository so you can incorporate future changes to calibre into you local copy. How to do that is described in the above linked-to page. There are also many graphic GIT clients floating around. I use SourceTree. |

Read the manual. You will see that you don't compile or rebuild anything. Changing something and running calibre from source takes seconds. Many people, including some who don't program, do it. In fact it is easier than rebuilding a plugin. Last edited by chaley; 07-19-2025 at 05:04 PM. |

I have skimmed the thread, but if somebody has already answered this question and I've missed it, then I apologize.
![]() I recently updated Calibre for the first time in several months and I see that much of the functionality of the old KoboTouchExtended driver is now built-in. That's awesome; a huge thank-you to those responsible for doing that work! Is it still possible for me to recover my configuration settings for the old plugin, so that I may set them correspondingly using the new mechanisms and configuration? ![]() Thank you in advance for taking the time to help. ![]() |

The plugin should still be installed, just not enabled. Access configs from Preferences.

Oh, thank you so much for that! So, I have good news and bad news… the bad news is that I was apparently a bit hasty in removing the plugin when I saw it was no longer supported. D'oh.
![]() The good news is that its config file remains, just not in the plugins/ subdirectory where I was looking for it. It's in the Calibre configuration directory, filename: device_drivers_KOBOTOUCHEXTENDED.py.json Thanks again! ![]() |
