D2D won't accept a link
Dear Community Forum,
I always use links to online Bibles on the copyright pages of my books that are published in six languages and have never had a problem until today when D2D Validator rejected a link to an online French Bible: http://otremolet.free.fr//otbiblio//bible//index.html. I have fixed numerous errors on my own by looking in the Word document and figuring out what it does not accept, but this is the second time I cannot figure out what the problem is. Please know that I am not knowledgeable about code and it takes me a little while to figure out what you mean. If you can spare a few extra words, I would appreciate it, as terse explanations can be mystifying... I also do not understand why it says (28, 272) when there is no line number 272 -- it stops at 34. Maybe this question does not need to be answered, but I ask in case it does... Thank you in advance for your time and generosity! ![]() John |

If you look at the URL, file:/// is pointing to a file on your local hard drive. You would need to replace the link with one accessible from the Internet such as http://otremolet.free.fr/otbiblio/bible/index.html.

Thank you theducks and DNSB. I am grateful for your time and effort!
![]() That worked. Thank you. I always delete the "http://" from the links on the copyright page and it always works, but for this ebook, I will add it in. I have another question: Where is this file stored on my local hard drive? I searched my hard drive and only found my French manuscripts (MS Word docs) that contain this link. In the epub, it says "Downloads", but there is no file in my Downloads that contains this link (it is usually empty). If my French manuscripts are the only place where it is stored on my hard drive, then why doesn't the epub validator catch other Bible links in other manuscripts that do not contain "http:", such as the Portuguese translation, image attached? (All of my other Bible links contain "www", so I suppose that explains those, but not the Portuguese link.) Thank you for your time and for helping me with this. |
