KoboUtilities v2.24.1
Changes in this release:
Looks like I missed testing switching libraries, luckily it was an easy fix. |

I can't reproduce that, if the "last read" time on the device is newer than the library time then I get the popup and it correctly updates the library value. Can you give some more details and ideally a debug log?

I'm clearly going blind. I also have it now not updating progress. Where in settings do i find the option to select my device to see if that is the problem?
(ETA - still not found where I can reselect my device - or at least the one place I have found it in 'Devices' tab of customise plugin already had it selected, and unselecting and reselecting made no difference. Rolling back to the 2.23.0 version of plugin has also not fixed). Last edited by palaran; 08-15-2025 at 01:43 PM. |

Do you have the "store on connect" option enabled for the relevant profile? If yes and it's still not working then it would be really helpful if you could create a debug log of the situation. I'm not sure why any of the relevant options could have gotten deselected, nothing should have changed there.

Please see attached log files both for the rolled back 2.23 and current 2.24.1 versions. I'm running Windows 11 Pro Version 10.0.26100 Build 26100 I notice the log refers to this as Windows '10' but I assume this is quite possibly me misreading the log. For each of these logs all I did was: restart in debug mode. Connect Kobo Wait for it to finish all jobs. Eject Kobo via Windows 'safely remove hardware' Shut Calibre. One thing to add is that when connecting (before, outside of debug mode), progress seems to be the only thing not working. Other actions like backing up the Kobo database seem to be working fine, as well as recognising which books are on device. Hopefully this helps you find what the issue is, but let me know if there is anything else I can do to help. **ETA** After the above, I also added a book to Calibre and transferred to Kobo to test that. For the book I included series info and added it to a collection (one that did not exist on Kobo yet). First time I did it, after ejecting and disconnecting the Kobo, this caused the Kobo to immediately move into reboot and prompt me to register from the start. After doing so, I reconnected to the computer (without Calibre active) and moved the back up database files over to Kobo. The database did not appear to have saved any of my recent reading progress since the last time that I manually saved the progress (which I have done once since this issue occurred). I then started Calibre and connected the Kobo. The most recent book that I had transferred was showing as present on the Kobo, so deleted that and did the transfer process again from start, which then worked fine without issue. So the 'crash' may have been a coincidence (have certainly had some, but not many, of those in the past). Sorry, no log file for any of this as was done outside of debug mode. I too had the problem of the stats not updating. Turns out it is an easy fix. The Device this profile is for field was blank. Putting the device back in the field fixed the problem.
This is a bug. Can it be fixed for those who do not come here and may not know the fix? Last edited by JSWolf; Yesterday at 12:19 PM. |

I just noticed that database backups are no longer getting compressed. This began sometime after August 5. Probably one of the latest versions of KU?
I'm on 2.24.1 right now. And calibre 8.8. |

Thanks JSWolf - that was where mine was unselected too.
It does seem to now be picking them up, but previous 'time remaining' and 'time read' columns that calculate it in hrs/mins now seem to not be working. Will have a look at that properly though when it is not 4am here and see if I can work out what's happening there. Will upload additional logs if I can't fix. |

Yup -- 2.23 compresses the automatic database backup. 2.24 and 2.24.1 do not. So the saved backup is 650MB vs 35 MB. Something broke in 2.24.

For what it may be worth, I tried installing different versions of calibre portable and the Kobo Utilities plugin. The issue seems to have started between 2.23.0 and 2.24.0 (the backup from 2.23.0 shows deflate as the compression method while 2.24.0/1 show store as the compression method. calibre version from 8.5.0 to 8.8.0 does not seem to make any difference.
