Libra 2 Kebub - all links open as a footnote with preview

I have been experimenting with including javascript in my epubs to create some randomised elements. For my Kobo Libra 2 it is necessary to format the file as a .kebub.epub to ensure the JS works. Since I did this, some of the anchor tags no longer function as direct links, but as footnotes. Instead of directly redirecting the reader to another page it shows up as a preview window.

I can't seem to find rhyme or reason behind when it does or doesn't do this. as a test I created 3 pages, with the first page refering to the other two, and the last referring back to the first one. Only the last one going back sends the user back directly.

I want to prevent the kobo engine from parsing the anchor links as footnotes, but nothing I do seem to work. Epub-type tags seem to have no effects, for example.

I hope anyone here has any idea.

If I remember correctly, I solved it by adding a lot of hidden text at the link target.

Right now I formatted the href as follows: "page.xhtml#section?id=dummy"
Now I added the ?id=dummy the kobo reader seems to parse the link correctly so the user gets redirected directly, but i have no idea why.

I still need to test if this works consistently, but it seems like a simpler solution!
