Can't install 8.8.0
Using Win 11 Pro.
This has happened before, but it's never been a problem until now. The screens that pop up which require a click are so off-screen that I can't even read them much less click them, which means the installation can't continue. Help! |

That's a MS "Trusted Installer" issue, try Alt+Space,M then the arrow keys to see if you can bring the Window into view.

Thank you! I was all set to do this, but this time I had no problem. I hate Win 11 (and it's soooo sloooow). However, I'm saving your post in case it happens again.

I would update to Windows11 from Windows 10 if I had a computer that did not come with Windows 11 and was supported. My two computers with Windows 11 came with it. |

How much RAM does your W11 have. Too small of RAM and no SSD will slow things down.
Also, installing (IMHO) bloated Security suites will take a toll. (I have a i7-4000 w 32G that is not compliant under the original rules. I will not try W11 now, even if they relax. I don't trust M$. all my W10 machines seem to get slower and slower, each W10 update ) |

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-9700 CPU @ 3.00GHz (3.00 GHz)
Installed RAM 16.0 GB (15.8 GB usable) C: is an SSD It's a pre-built HP Z1. I had no choice. I guess I say it's slow because it does things like hang and it seems to "trip over its own feet" when copying or cut/paste files. What I mean is, sometime during a transfer it will pop up an error saying the file is in use. Well, yeah. By Windows transferring the file! It also takes longer than it did with Win 10. Booting may or may not be swift (HP installed some boot file protection thing that I cannot for the life of me remember the name). And all this is intermittent. Anyway, I have what I have and it's adequate. I'm not a gamer and rarely have multiple heavy duty apps open. Firefox, Bitdefender, Backblaze, and JDownloader take the top spots in mem usage. Thanks for the interest, but nothing's going to change at this time. ![]() PS - I don't trust *any* tech company. The constant spying and data collection, etc. freaks me out and I do not believe them when they say they won't. I had a pointed reminder of that the other day from Amazon. Let me know if you want that story. |

I haven't run anything besides Windows Defender for a decade or more. No viruses, no malware.

I've used Norton and gave that up and I've used AVG Free and gave that up. Both eventually slowed down the computer. Since running the Microsoft AV, I've never once had a problem with a false positive or any slowdown. |

Thanks for the info and link. I'll read up on it later and see if I can tweak a few things.

I updated my two computers (both several years old) to Windows 11 recently. Neither is particularly slower than before. Windows 11 has many faults, but I'd not say that slowness is one of them.
