Actually, this is useful. If you ever had reason to use a federal depositary library, you'll be glad there is an generally-available online one.
As the articles point out, Internet Archive does the back-end archiving for many other federal depositary libraries. |

Happy to hear, but also concerned
This definitely gives me hope for the IA, but at the same time it makes me nervous.
Does this mean the Internet Archive will be controlled (even partly) by the federal government? If so, it doesn't bode well for the IA staying out of partisan concerns. |
