I saw in Metadata Management for Fanfiction that either you or someone else had a whole code section about it but it was way too confusing for me and I already have everything else set up how I like it, but wasn't sure if you knew how to add these two features/if it was possible?

With ElasticSearch updated and the errors (for most users) gone, I updated the ProblematicSites to replace the AO3 intro with this (comparison).

After a [DDoS attack in 2023](https://www.cshub.com/attacks/news/f...by-ddos-attack), Archive of Our Own implemented Cloudflare. While it's not usually as aggressive as ffnet's, there have been occasions, [such as in the first half of 2025](https://www.transformativeworks.org/...ss-and-errors/), when it caused problems.

I tried updating my personal.ini to exclude downloading images in a particular story.

I tried "include_images: false" and it didn't work.

Did I do something wrong? I put this setting under the [archiveofourown.org] area.

EDIT: I am using the cache browsing options, could that be causing the "include_images:false" to fail?

Okay.

AO3 will get removed from that page entirely if it's still problem free in a month or two.

Since nobody's screaming, I'm hopeful the other AO3 changes didn't break anything in FFF.

The default include_images setting is under [epub] format section, which takes precedence over the [archiveofourown.org] site section.

But if you put it in the story url section, that takes precedence over both site and format sections. (I really need to stop writing about 'recent' changes.)

I'm out of the woods (literally--I was at a woods club), so I have network again. But I'm still mostly occupied a few more days.

Thank you for making it so private stories can be downloaded again!

I've got two questions.

1) I have this code in the replace_metadata area:

 status=>^In-Progress$=>WIP

when I download anthologies, the status comes out as In-Progress. Is there anyway to make it so anthologies get the WIP status too?

2) For stories with no pairings, is there a way to have it put 'No Pairings' in the relationship column thing? ( ships_modified)

Has anyone checked out the beta version of FFN with the new design? I can't find any coherent HTML code in the source code that even refers to the text of the respective chapter. At least, as far as I can tell.

And while the design of the respective story page is quite acceptable, the overview pages of the respective categories take some getting used to, at best.

It's funny because I can only get it to work on AO3, unless it is a locked work (which then if giving me issues now, I think because I updated my password recently and now it won't give me to prompt to change what my log in is?) but I am completely unable to download anything from FFN. No matter what I put in I get;

Is there a way to exclude images specifically from author notes? (A lot of royalroad stories I follow have covers of other stories in nearly every author note, either shoutouts or advertising the author's other books.)
I would prefer not to disable the author notes entirely, likewise with images.

TL;DR: No. Not in FFF.

In general, an anthology's metadata entries are just the concatenated list of each story's metadata entries of the same name.

status gets special treatment. It's only generated for an anthology if the adapter for that site has code for collecting from the series instead of the individual stories. (And 'Completed' and 'In-Progress' are flat out removed from the concatenated 'tags' aka subjects. Your 'WIP' will pass through.)

AO3 (and other OTW) sites are currently the only ones that collect status for series. So I assume you are downloading an AO3 series that's not marked completed.

Anthologies do not have a way to apply replace_metadata do to implementation limitations.
