Pshrynk can appreciate this! Sadly, it's seems to be only available in Wisconsin, LaCrosse for one, Madison, Janesville, etc. Going to school at UW-LaCrosse is where I discovered it. They have several of them there. Luckily, Janesville and Madison aren't too far of a drive for us to go for Rocky's pizza!

We usually go in February for heart-shaped pizza!

well now that i've probably drooled all over my entire keyboard (thanks guys !) i am going to have to have pizza for dinner tomorrow. i'll let you know how it is.

just a question though, i keep seeing "chi-town", how do you pronounce that ? is it like "tchaï-town", or like "she-town" (like the beginning of chi-cago) ???

Sorry, Zelda! That was my fault!! You would pronounce it shy-town. Just one of those silly names for the "City of Big Shoulders", ie. Chicago.

You definitely have to eat it with a fork and knife, especially if it's right out of the oven.

I love a good calzone but it just doesn't have the same emotional punch that a big sloppy piece of pizza has! Folding just makes it a folded pizza (and eliminates the sloppyness but maintains that pizza feel).

** Side note...I was on a cruise a few years ago and met the daughter of the Nancy's owner. She lives about 20 minutes from me.

When I brought my southern born and raised husband home to meet the parents, we took him to Nancy's for his first taste of "Real" pizza. He thought he had died and gone to heaven! He still tells people about it almost 23 years later! (I do think it might have been the highlight of the trip. It's never easy meeting the future in-laws! )

Just curious, do other countries have a [insert country name] pizza? Here in Oz, when you look at a pizza menu (Four Seasons, Ham & Pineapple, Marinara, et cetera...or smoked kangaroo, Balmain Bug, Snowy River trout if they're being "gourmet") there's almost always the "Aussie Pizza". Now, it varies about, but is usually a mix of bacon, tomato, cheese, sometimes barbecue sauce, capsicum...but the defining ingredient (with a tilt of the hat to the bacon) is to have an egg or two cracked and spread over it and under the cheese ("essential" in the same way that a burger have a couple of slices of beetroot on it. Incidentally, an "Aussie burger" almost inevitably has a fried egg on it too). I'm not sure how the egg became such a defining characteristic. I do like it though (on my burger too).

I'm sure that the above isn't unique to Oz (okay, possibly the beetroot on the burgers ), and it may even be a long-standing culinary tradition for some variety if pizza. My point is only that this is generally what an "Aussie pizza" includes. Do other countries have their own pizzas? The Swedish Pizza with Surströmming on it? The English Pizza with fish and chips on it? The Indonesian Pizza with mee goreng on it? The Italian Pizza with...no, wait, skip that one.

I'll be honest, the past few years I've been having trouble finding good thin crust pizza. I often turn to white pizzas anymore. Olive oil & garlic replacing the tomato sauce...

There is, however, a place inside at Columbus Fleamarket that makes a tomato pie that I absolutely love... And if I go there tomorrow I'm going to have to get, thanks to this thread... Now I'm hungry...

I have never seen it. We do not have the concept of a Swedish pizza. I think I saw a pizza with meatballs on it sometime but that is very rare.
