Am having to find a book I like in Amazon then checking if its in kobo. Sometimes ended buying it twice
So wondering about just buying a kindle love my kobo but not enough Selection at the minute.
Kindles are dear though.

If you still have your old Kindle, you can always use it to download your Amazon purchases, copy them with DRM removal to calibre and then use caliber to convert and send them to your Clara Colour. See the Dealing with Kindle ebooks in calibre thread for more information.

It's not worth it if you know how to remove the DRM and convert.

But if you can't or won't remove the DRM from Amazon ebooks, then the only way to read them is to use the Kindle app on a computer or a phone, or buy a Kindle.

Have been quite happy removing it up till now. But now I'm.older it seems too complicated to set up. It's only for sitting in the garden in the uksummer. In the winter I can read on my Samsung tablet

When you say your old Kindle won't do anything, you mean it doesn't work at all or doesn't have wifi?

Ok, yeah, if you had an E-ink Kindle that at least had wifi, DRM removal would be pretty much as easy as download & transfer was. But other methods are more complicated.

Red face

The trouble is now I still have to buy books from amazon that kobo doesn't have. So I have to continually check where I buy from
Also when I read the Kindle ones on my Samsung tab I delete them to save room. So I have no record in calibre of them. So occasionally bought a couple again

The International 2nd Gen versions still work on mobile in a few places, if they are already registered, but mostly only get old Mobi/KF7 format.

The minimum usable is K3 for azw3 via WiFi if the FW is updated (download on Amazon Firmware for kindles).

The DXG came out at the same time as the Gen 3 K3 / Kindle Keyboard /6" Graphite, but is only Gen2 and only works in a few places (cell/mobile only).

So indeed a Gen 2 is a museum display piece really.

You could add an "empty" book record in calibre for those.

That is why I have entries in calibre for library books, my hardcovers, etc. It has saved me on more than a few locations from purchasing a book again.

That's exactly what I do.

MRM66 would do well to adopt some kind of plan, else live (and spend) in an arena of unmitigated chaos.

If calibre is too steep of a learning curve, then perhaps using some kind of spreadsheet or database (and maintaining it), would lessen the chance of unknowingly purchasing duplicates.
