I reread her Bride Quartet quite often, and loved her earlier books, but the last trilogy didn't leave an impression. I was going to buy HN since comments here are pretty good. Pity sale didn't work in Europe.

Still remember near the end of that book... "and then his brothers walked in". Those Quinn brothers are hard to beat! That series is also a comfort listen for me. |

I love a lot of her older series and trilogies. With many of her trilogies I will like two of the books and be meh on the third (not necessarily the last one, often the first or middle).
I loathed Chronicles of the One and probably rated it too high when I read it. I knew going in it wasn't a romance but sheesh. LOL. Her newer stuff is very hit-or-miss for me. But I am enjoying her most recent trilogy about the ghost manor (I am blanking in the name and too lazy to look). But I have been reading her since the 80s. I don't always buy her single titles straight off, but the library wait was long so I splurged this time around. I miss being able to request books and automatically be put on hold. The Libby system vexes me. |

New NR is definitely hit or miss for me!
Her latest most recent trilogies don't seem to be stand alones the way they build on each other with the plots. I really liked Inheritance in this latest series, the second book not as much. |

I'm with you on that - the first one was quite good IMO, with the exception of the cliff-hanger, which I thought was too much. Second one really felt like a middle book to me, other than getting to meet Cleo’s grand-mère, who was a treat. But mostly meh!
Oddly enough, after receiving ARCs of the first two, they turned me down for the third one, so I won't be reading it for quite a while, unless I catch another £0.99 sale in the UK, or find it via Hoopla or library. |

The £0.99-in-the-UK-for-one-day-not-too-long-after-publication thing is so common in established mystery series, and also at least some SF/fantasy series, that I agree, I have no idea why anyone would buy most new books rather than wait, unless it's a title you're just dying for and are going to read right away. OTOH, most folks - outside of MR - probably don't check the Kindle Daily Deal every day either, and/or have eReaderIQ hits on all their favorite authors
![]() Oh, and then there are also the monthly sales that have a lot of books drop to £0.99 for a month - usually older titles in series, and lots of repeats, but they sometimes let you get a second bite at the apple if you missed the first one... Quote:

I'm a big fan of Rosalind James' books, especially her Escape to New Zealand series, but really, almost all of her books. And right now, Catch a Kiwi, which is the sixth and most recent in her New Zealand Ever After series, is free at Kindle US and UK. She doesn't seem to be writing books in the Escape to NZ series any more, but NZ Ever After is pretty good too.

Sourcebooks Casablanca, who publish Georgette Heyer in the US, used to have a "birthday sale", when they would put all of her books on sale for a week or so, around the time of her birthday, August 16. This hasn't happened for many years, at least that I've been aware of. But it seems as if we may be getting the sale again anyway, well in advance of her birthday - my eReaderIQ feed exploded with Heyer titles for $1.99 each today. And they usually cost a lot more. They're not all on sale, but a bunch sure are.
I have no idea how long this will last, and I'm slammed at work, so can't really check it out, but here are a couple of links that pull up many Heyer titles at $1.99. Keep in mind that in the US, several of her early books are now in the public domain (e.g. The Black Moth, These Old Shades, Beauvallet), and so multiple editions of those clutter up the search results. But if you have a missing Heyer book or two you'd like to find at a good price, now's probably a good time to go looking ![]() Kindle US: http://www.amazon.com/gp/search/?sea...rd=sourcebooks Kobo US: https://store.kobobooks.com/search?Q...rd=Sourcebooks Last edited by sufue; Yesterday at 06:42 PM. |
