I found out there's a name for a genre of books I enjoy but didn't know how to describe: healing fiction/cozy Japanese fiction.

and a bit less murder than the other type of cozies I enjoy

Do people who like "cozy" books also like "LoFi" videos?

(That's an actual question.)

I like cozy books, don't like videos in general, and have no idea what LoFi is. (Low fidelity? As in murky/low physical quality?)

No, it's simple animated videos with a sound track of quiet jazz and rain sounds.

When after five two-star reads in a row you notch a four-star read.

But wait!

The jazz is comforting (I like jazz), but why is the 'animal' reading a book (A BOOK!!!!) in a bathtub when it's raining? And won't the rain destroy (DESTROY!!!) the book? And wouldn't the rain fill the drink so that it overflows into the bathtub? (A BATHTUB!). Where's the soap? (SOAP!). Doesn't this creature want to get clean? Where's the towell????

Sorry, but I'm going to stick with Edgar Rice Burroughs and Robert E. Howard, where things are believable. I'll stick with the Kangaroo Men of Gooli, or Soraks, or Thoats! That's believable.

When you finish a book that was a slog to get through and the next book is enjoyable.

Did you miss that the bathtub seems to be in the middle of a lake?

I think it's the magical power of intense reading joy and delight that protects the book.

Got past the 50% mark on a 4,500 page (just under a million words) fanfic.

Reading Goal estimates I'll finish by August 22. I'll be surprised if I finish before September.

I could only dream of being so accomplished in my reading backlog that I had the time to read a 4,500 page fanfic.

Unfortunately, at last count my Kobo account shows 168 books in "Not Started" status, so, that won't be anytime soon...
