Well, no. I just don't consider the cover "content", so it didn't even enter my mind when I wrote that I have no books with color content.

As to color images other than cover, I very seldom see those in the books I read. Usually the images are black and white, if there are any at all. The vast majority of my ebooks have no images, besides an occasional map or the photo of the author in the back (I don't consider the latter to be part of the content either). I delete ads and such.

I don't want a a Libra Colour just to see my covers in color. The rest of the reading experience would not be as good as what I have now with the Libra 2.

I think we all use humpty dumpy definitions.

In general I don't care about author photos, but sometimes they pique my interest, especially with new authors. In general I don't care about acknowledgements, although I do skim them because there is sometimes interesting things (to me) about how the book came to be.

That's not what is meant when people use the term "content" for books. This would be kind of like saying the cover of cereal box is "content" because it has a picture of the cereal that's inside.

I cannot recommend the Sage or Ellipsa due to the rather poor batteries. I cannot recommend any of the color Kobo as I can't stand them. I could maybe recommend the Clara BW if someone wants a 6". Bot if anyone wants larger then 6" for sure, there is no Kobo to recommend.
That's where I am. Since my Clara HD is still going strong, there's really no upgrade path for me in the Kobo world (not that I currently need an upgrade path but I thought the non-color Libra would be available in the future if I needed a 7" screen).

Clara BW is pretty much a better Clara HD in every way. Both are 6", but the BW is faster, waterproof, has more storage and USB C.

That's fine. Since I'm a people, I will have my own differing opinion.

a definition:

Quote:
: the topics or matter treated in a written work
table of contents
When I look at the table of contents of my current ebook, the cover, title page, dedication, chapters, ... are all listed.

Since you brought up the cereal box... What is the inside the box: the content (probably a plastic bag, maybe a toy, the cereal, ...); people eat the cereal, some may pick out the "candy" in the cereal. What's inside an ebook, the content (table of contents, cover, chapters, afterword, acknowledgment, author photo, ...), some may read some parts and skip other parts.

Just because I may not care about some of the content doesn't make it "not content" to me.

Again, IMO, YMMV.

With the Clara HD, you do have the possibility for upgrading the storage (SD card) while you can't on the BW (soldered eMMC).

And thinking about this, I'm going to disagree a little more.

For the people I talk to, they say things "did you read xx book" or "I read yyy book". If I ask them "what did you think about the book" they would most likely comment on the story. If I asked about "what about those wacky statements in the acknowledgement?", they may something like "I agreed with the opinion" or 'I skipped that part'. In normal conversation, people don't use the term 'content'; 'content' has a more technical meaning then 'just the story'.

Sure we can all use different definitions of 'content' when expressing opinions, but it would be nice to understand what their definition is to understand their opinion better.

And FWIW, the definition of content I'm referring to is for fiction works. I would use the same definition for non-fiction, but my definition may not be as mainstream.

The Table of Contents is not the cover.

The contents of a cereal box is the cereal, not the picture on the box or the plastic bag that contains the cereal.

I was talking about the cover of the book, not the Table of Contents or the front matter, or the Index, or the Author's blurb or anything else inside the cover of the book, which are various parts of the content of the book.

I understand opinions, but I was expressing my opinion specifically about the cover of the book — not various types of book content inside that cover. You've basically created a straw man argument here.

Again, none of this includes the cover of the book. I wasn't talking about anything inside the book's cover, which I consider content. But you equated the cover with content. In my opinion the content of the book is not the cover. And (to get back to the original point) I'm not willing to accept a lower quality screen just for the sake of colored covers. I realize that's my opinion and others feel differently, but that's my choice. At this point (for me) Kobo currently has no upgrade path. And, again, I realize others feel differently.

I understand. But my Clara HD works fine. I don't read fast or in the shower and I use very little storage. And its battery is still strong.

If I upgraded the memory on my Clara HD it would just be for the "fun of it." I really don't need any extra memory as I don't store that many books on it at a time.

Fair point on storage size & expansion capabilities being a user dependant requirement.

Non-upgradability is a deal breaker for me, personally. I use my device as a digital library and to scratch that tsundoku itch.
