First in new series.
Meanwhile the sale price at the US store is more than the UK's listing price, despite both being from the same publisher!

Just reinforces my belief that publishers really rake US consumers over the coals on ebook prices.

No, I mostly see the US prices being the same or much lower than UK, more & better sales and also more titles (sometimes one or more titles in a series missing on UK Kobo or Amazon).

Price differences between Kobo Ireland and Kobo UK are erratic.

Also the pricing of 1c or 1p below the nearest whole number of Dollars, Pounds Sterlingn and euro causes distortions (some of the differences).

If US consumers weren’t willing to pay higher ebook prices, the prices would go down. Publishers should attempt to maximize revenue; they’d be failing in their duty to both their shareholders and their authors if they didn’t. Geo-restrictions let them discriminate, so of course they do.

Yeah, but that's clearly not the case here. £10.99 would be about $14.93 USD, so still well below the $20.99 USD listing price on the US store.

And, again, maybe I'm biased because I've been importing Michael Moorcock books for some years and am used to buying from both sides of the pond (when I originally joined MobileRead, most of the Elric books were flatly unavailable in the US!), but you can see below:

https://www.kobo.com/gb/en/ebook/the...c-5d7ed5d270ca
https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/the...e-86523daa81e9

https://www.kobo.com/gb/en/ebook/the...2-f7fab39ac3b5
https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/the...2-a7d5278c1c98

https://www.kobo.com/gb/en/ebook/mother-london
https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/mot...8-e6d76f2ed0d7

Despite the fact that the poor chap now lives in Texas, it's quite expensive to be a US patron of his books if you're not buying them all on sale.

Except my impression is on average USA pays less. There are always exceptions.

My impression that since I started tracking UK daily deals, they often feature £1 to £3 sales of very recent releases, months before they go on sale in the US.

And that £1 is cheaper than the common $2 or $3 prices.

You are certainly the expert on posting sale deals, which I appreciate.

That is definitely true in the mystery genre - in fact, it's somewhat common, and oddly enough, more with big publishers. I've even seen a new book drop to £0.99 in the UK before it's even published in the US, much less on sale in the US - rare, but it happens. But usually the price drop is quite short - just for one day. I don't track enough new science fiction/fantasy books to know for sure in this genre, but don't know why it would be different.

Awww, thank you! It's fun to find bargains, even if it does explode my TBR pile. Which luckily is virtual...

The Women Could Fly by Megan Giddings is $2 in the US (Kobo, Amazon)
Quote:
Reminiscent of the works of Margaret Atwood, Shirley Jackson, and Octavia Butler, a biting social commentary from the acclaimed author of Lakewood that speaks to our times—a piercing dystopian novel about the unbreakable bond between a young woman and her mysterious mother, set in a world in which witches are real and single women are closely monitored.

Josephine Thomas has heard every conceivable theory about her mother's disappearance. That she was kidnapped. Murdered. That she took on a new identity to start a new family. That she was a witch. This is the most worrying charge because in a world where witches are real, peculiar behavior raises suspicions and a woman—especially a Black woman—can find herself on trial for witchcraft.

But fourteen years have passed since her mother’s disappearance, and now Jo is finally ready to let go of the past. Yet her future is in doubt. The State mandates that all women marry by the age of 30—or enroll in a registry that allows them to be monitored, effectively forfeiting their autonomy. At 28, Jo is ambivalent about marriage. With her ability to control her life on the line, she feels as if she has her never understood her mother more. When she’s offered the opportunity to honor one last request from her mother's will, Jo leaves her regular life to feel connected to her one last time.

In this powerful and timely novel, Megan Giddings explores the limits women face—and the powers they have to transgress and transcend them.

Empire of the Vampire (#1 in series) by Jay Kristoff is $3 in the US (Kobo, Amazon)
Quote:
THE INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES, USA TODAY, AND WALL STREET JOURNAL BESTSELLER

From New York Times bestselling author Jay Kristoff comes Empire of the Vampire**, the first illustrated volume of an astonishing new dark fantasy saga.**

From holy cup comes holy light;
The faithful hand sets world aright.
And in the Seven Martyrs’ sight,
Mere man shall end this endless night.

It has been twenty-seven long years since the last sunrise. For nearly three decades, vampires have waged war against humanity; building their eternal empire even as they tear down our own. Now, only a few tiny sparks of light endure in a sea of darkness.

Gabriel de León is a silversaint: a member of a holy brotherhood dedicated to defending realm and church from the creatures of the night. But even the Silver Order could not stem the tide once daylight failed us, and now, only Gabriel remains.

Imprisoned by the very monsters he vowed to destroy, the last silversaint is forced to tell his story. A story of legendary battles and forbidden love, of faith lost and friendships won, of the Wars of the Blood and the Forever King and the quest for humanity’s last remaining hope:

The Holy Grail.

Solaris are once again having a sale.
https://rebellionpublishing.com/sale/
Usual regional restrictions apply.

The new offering is Emma Newman's new pirate fantasy novel, The Vengeance, which starts a new series:
https://rebellionpublishing.com/product/the_vengeance/
Quote:

Morgane grew up at sea, daughter of the fierce pirate captain of the Vengeance, raised to follow in her footsteps as scourge of the Four Chains Trading Company. But when Anna-Marie is mortally wounded in battle, she confesses to Morgane that she is not her mother.

The captain of the enemy ship reveals he was paid to kill Anna-Marie and bring Morgane home to France and her real family. Desperate to learn the truth about her lineage, Morgane spares him, leaving the Vengeance and everything she knows behind.

Her quest reveals a world of decadence and darkness, in which monsters vie for control of royal courts and destinies of nations. She discovers the bloody secrets of the Four Chains Trading Company, and the truth about her real mother’s death, nearly twenty years before…
