Having issues with downloading restricted stories from Archive of our Own. Every time I try it says the same thing None of the 1 Urls/stories can be/need to be downloaded.

It had worked before the stupid website went down with maintenance after I added
use_archiveofourown_gay:true now it don't work at all. Only downloads stories that aren't restricted.

Hi there,

I usually try to troubleshoot issues myself and search for solutions online before asking for help — but this time, I’ve been stuck for over an hour and haven’t found anything useful. So I figured it’s time to ask directly.

Does anyone know why I might suddenly be getting a [WinError 5] Access is denied error when trying to download using the cache feature? It was working fine just a week ago, and I haven’t changed anything since then — at least not knowingly.

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated!

Are you using an old version of Calibre?

The only time I recall seeing that error it was to do with directory locking by window's file explorer conflicting with Calibre.

Newer versions of Calibre report this in a way FFF catches it and offers you a chance to close file explorer before trying again.

Otherwise, I'd need a debug log to even start looking at it.

Both calibre and FFF are on newest update, im not sure if its important but last succesfull download was at 19th of June, and i have not touched it since till today when i received the weird error

Im starting to suspect windows being weird :| but i have not found solution yet.... But i literally never had permission problems

That error is permission being denied to read the Chrome browser cache.

I've just tried it with Chrome without problem, but there's an update available... Still works for me after update.

Assuming you are running both Chrome and Calibre as the same user, it may be that Chrome or some security program 'helpfully' restricted access to the cache dir.

You might be able to change the permissions on the file system.

Honestly, if it were me, try rebooting if you haven't already.

You can't nest <p> tags inside <p> tags. You'd have to use </p><p>...</p><p> instead.

No. In fact, that wouldn't work at all -- you'd end up with literally "<p>comments</p>" instead of "<p>value of comments</p>".

Remove all the "<br />," from logpage_entries and instead add:

logpage_entry:<b>${label}:</b> <span id="${id}">${value}</span><br />

Note about add_to_ for curious users:

You can't do add_to_logpage_entry:<br /> in this case because apparently I never bothered putting logpage_entry in defaults.ini. And add_to_X doesn't work on the hard coded fall-back settings.

Please don't post NSFW links here. I assume that applies even if they need a login.

That story needs you to be logged in.

Try setting always_login:true along with user/pass in personal.ini for [storiesonline.net].

FFF (usually) detects when login is required, but if the site gives the same message for 'not found' and 'needs login', it needs always_login.
