We’re not going to dictate what people can discuss via PM, short of unsolicited posts that are spammy or offensive, in which case the sender will be banned if it’s reported.

That said, let’s not make a mockery of the DRM discussion prohibition. It’s better to direct people to the proper sources first and we don’t want to see a flurry of posts of the “Check your PMs” ilk. The board is for open conversation, not a switchboard to private conversations. It’s up to members to keep abreast of their PMs.

This isn't quite the same situation, but the Dealing with Kindle ebooks in calibre thread has been increasingly plagued by strings of repetitive posts all saying "can you PM me a link to the latest method?" The latest string of thirteen PM requests starts here: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...81#post4518781 and there are at least two other flurries where all the posts are requests for PMs or responses to requests for PMs or discussion on how to send PMs, etc.

Do you have any suggestions on how to stop this?

Perhaps a moderator notice in the thread that no new posts asking for PM would be tolerated? Posts by ordinary members asking not to make public requests have not stopped people from doing so.

I’ve posted in your thread. I agree that once it’s been said, and it has, repeatedly, people need to read the thread first and then do as requested, i.e., PM Sirtel. I hope this cuts down on the noise.

Adding: I took a look at the post and they want detailed help with DRM-removal, too. I don’t care what info is exchanged via PM, but, really, someone shouldn’t make it clear they’re violating MR guidelines using an MR client!

It's incessant. What's particularly maddening is DNSB actually posted a link in full public view, and 9 posts later, on the SAME page, someone asks for a link. If people can't even read the page they're posting on, I just can't even ...

At this point in time, I've pretty much given up on expecting people to read anything. In the Kobo firmware request thread, the first message explicitly says links will be sent via PM and yet the messages about not being able to find the links persist. Or as mentioned above by @issybird and @pdurrant, directly below a moderator message saying not to post PM requests, another request for a PM was posted.
