If it was a version for their beta testers, it would not show up on Patrick's download page. |

Kobo has been doing this for a long time, and all automatic updates from all companies should be done this way, so that problems can be found (and the roll out stopped) before they get propagated to huge numbers of people. Either be patient (and grateful), or go back in old threads to find one of the many methods to update in an earlier phase. I think there's even a section in the kobo tricks wiki page on this. |

That said, normally we in Europe are frequently the ones who get most updates pretty fast as we form a large test base (many users, good infrastructure, etc.). As this is currently not the case, and I received info that Australian roll-out is started, it just did make me wonder why. I've seen this behavior also on my Pixel-phone: normally we get on the 5th of every month security updates. If they fail to arrive, you know there are issues, and big trouble when they are not yet there after a week. As we are all curious what will happen in a possible future melt between kobo/tolino, I was asking myself whether this was a preparation phase for the migration towards 1 code base. |

What I found interesting is that the P365 is manufactured by Top Victory Electronics but the N365B and N367B are manufactured by Netronix. The 4.42 firmware also has a reference to a N428B which would indicated a Libra Colour refresh.

I hope this refresh dumps the color screen.

With the 428B part number? Nice to see you can still dream wildly.

Curious if they changed it also for the Tolino, model numbers used for Tolino are different than for Kobo.

Edit: I mean I don't know if you know, but the Tolino Shine 5 actually uses the Kobo 5.x firmware, while the Kobo Clara BW uses the 4.x firmware. But I switched to the Kobo 4.x firmware because the 5.x is very bugged and they take a long time to fix these things. Last edited by Quality; 06-21-2025 at 08:24 PM. |

That's a P365, instead of the N for Netronix.
