You shouldn't need the .pbi installer again unless you factory reset the device.

– Works with:
Era; Verse Lite; Verse; Verse Pro; IP Lite; IP 3; IP 3 Pro; IP 4; IP X; THD 3; TL 5; BL 3; BL 4; PB Color; IP Color

– Does not work with:
TL 4; Era Color; IP Color 2; IP Color 3; Verse Pro Color

Thank you for testing. I confirm that on my Verse Pro Color it does not work.

I have my Calibre server setup via OPDS on the IOS app. If add my books to the library of the IOS app and have Pocketbook Cloud setup are these books going to sync to a Pocketbook device once I get one? They currently sync to my other IOS devices.

Is my assumption correct that this modification only necessary to be able to directly to the e-ink devices library directly?
