Amazon removed books from my Kindle

That works if you carry the Kindle with you too.

Just yanking your chain! I can see syncing as a benefit if you have a Kindle at your place of employment and a different Kindle at home. Maybe not so much for a trek from downstairs to upstairs in your home, but to each their own. I supposed if I had multiple Kindles laying around and didn't really know what to do with them, I'd put one upstairs and one downstairs too.

I do the upstairs/downstairs for a few reasons...the biggest one is because I *have* to hold on to the railing when going down the stairs, (my knees aren't reliable anymore when going down stairs...they sometimes just collapse on me) and one of my hands is carrying my water bottle. Since I do have multiple kindles, I'd rather leave one upstairs than take the chance of dropping it (or take the chance of not holding the railing because both hands are full)

I do also have one Kindle that lives in my bag and goes back and forth to work with me, in addition to the 2 that I use every day and night at home.

Huh. I do downstairs/upstairs because I use a larger Kindle as my armchair reader and a smaller one as my bed reader. Which does not include an even petiter Kindle as my purse reader. Why be judgy about others' needs/preferences?

Who's being judgy? Just having fun poking at all of us here for having so many different reading devices. Pretty much all of us do.

We can all hunker down into super-seriousness and mount defenses for why we need so many reading devices. Or we can laugh at ourselves ... for having so many reading devices. Try to recognize levity for what it is, even if it's not your thing.

To my knowledge, this has never happened to me.But I noticed the thumbnails are missing from around fifty of my books and I did some research and all of the books are no longer in the bookstore. The book's moved location In the Kindle store and have different covers.. I could still download the eBooks.And I could still read them but the covers no longer exist apparently. What's even more strange?This is only happening on my ereaders. The covers show up just fine on My kindle app For iPad and Android.

The covers get downloaded from the eBook's listing and given that the listings have changed, those eBooks have no cover to download.

It drains the battery more then having WiFi off.

Just came here today because I lost a bunch of books when I turned on the wifi to use the experimental browser last night. I know about the issue but was wondering if it had been fixed yet.

It seems to me that there are several things the kindle accesses the internet for. I wonder if selective firewalling could be used to block some things (i.e. the store) while allowing other functionality to occur. Or does everything just go to the AWS cloud? I'm guessing it might be possible to do something with DNS pihole style? I may dig into it a little.

Possibly, but probably would need turned off to download a book you buy or use Kindle Unlimited / Borrows. The store doesn't work now on the K3. Actually only getting the bought ebooks works on the K3.

I've not had the problem myself. Since the end of D&T I use the WiFi on K3 or PW3 only to get a Kindle ebook I've bought if it's unavailable (series already reading) or too expensive elsewhere.

Really the solution is for Amazon to fix it. It's not easy to trigger.

I've not attempted to use the browser etc for years. It's rubbish. I did switch to reading almost entirely on the Kobo, but I have Kindles to buy ebooks from Amazon. I passed on my Oasis 2 to a friend as I found it inferior to the Libra H20 and Libra 2 (both same size screen).

Amazon blocked my account for “unusual activity” and removed all the books both bought from their store for my money and downloaded from other sources

Now I use kindle (paper white, 11th) without their registration because they are thieves
I tried to contact their “support” for two months, never again
