Doubtful. The ACSM plugin (release package download) works inside the Flatpak sandbox.

But does the official calibre work in Flatpak?

Yes, all Flatpak is nothing more than a sandbox. Flatpak calibre uses the official binaries, update's about 3-4 days after calibre updates. in my testing calibre flatpak works the same as direct download and installed calibre, all plugin work.

I've downloaded and installed the extension from the github actions, but not only does the import still not work, it does something damaging to the extension system such that I cannot configure, remove, or disable it or revert back to the old version. I had to wipe my Caliber configs twice.

For reference I was using the latest Calibre on Flatpak.
What happens if you use calibre outside of Flatpak? You'll have to install calibre from the official website.

Rather, the official Calibre *is* what's packaged in the Flatpak, and the ACSM plugin works exactly the same in the Flatpak install and the tarball install. I have verified the former claim by comparing file checksums (they match), and the latter claim by actually using the plugin (it works).

Hey all, I am getting the below error when trying to customize the plugin. The activation.xml file is indeed empty but I'm not sure, if anything, what I should be putting in there. There's a fair chance I'm doing something stupid but any help would be much appreciated.

Version 16

I had to reinstall calibre and also the acsm plugin. I download v16 from Github.
But it seems to be an older version:
1. When I try to return a book it returns all subsequent
2. There was already an item for the main menue but its missing

I know that this behavior was overcome already some time before und worked in my previous environment.
What did I wrong?

For what little it may be worth, I download the artifact files from the ACSM run on April 13, 2025 from GitHub at link to the calibre-plugins but I think you need to be logged in at GitHub to use the link. I've attached the file with the two calibre plugins to this message.
Attached Files
File Type: zip calibre-plugins.zip (500.6 KB, 127 views)

You do need to be logged into Github or you get a 404 error.

Have you tried installing the version linked in message #579? Download the file, open it in a zip utility and extract the 2 zip files (do not unzip them, just extract them). Install the calibre-plugin.zip file.

If you are using HomeBrew (as I am) the workaround is to:

quit calibre

brew unlink openssl@3

launch calibre

-- install, configure and run the plugin and decode ASCM --

quit calibre

brew link openssl@3

The plugin will remain installed and configured but won't run until you run the 'unlink' command and re-launch calibre.

openssl@3 is a dependency for a number of brew-installed packages, including python3.

(to view dependency tree: brew deps --tree --installed)

Not very far upthread someone posted a proposed solution, but someone needs to test and create a PR for it.

Currently I average only 1 use of the plugin per month and do this on a Windows machine, since it works fine there and it is also where I have the Windows for PC deDRM setup in case I need it. I might otherwise forget to do the brew link step and run into problems running other things.
