All content in kepub files is inside a divs

Code:
<div id="book-columns"><div id="book-inner">
So simply gate rules you want to apply to kepub only with selectors that start with

Code:
#book-columns #book-inner

Problem installing kobotouchextended

Hi

I'm new to Kobo, having decided I do not like Amazon Kindle's practices. I am waiting for my Libra Colour to arrive and have been trying to update my Calibre for it.

I have read about the advantages of kobotouchextended but am having a problem installing it.

I install it from Calibre | Preferences | Plugins and it says it was successfully installed and to Restart Calibre, which I do. However, when I go back to Calibre | Preferences | Plugins, it says it is not installed.

What am I doing wrong? Is it anything to do with my not having my Kobo yet?

TIA

With calibre 8.0+, the functionality of the KoboTouchExtended driver was rolled into the KoboTouch driver and the KTE driver is blacklisted.

Same boat as previous user. Is this true of other kobo plugins, namely KePub Metadata Reader and KePub Metadata Writer?

Olld Versions

I found my old Kobo Glo HD and I wanted to put some books on it. My computer is still running Windows 7. I have Calibre 1.48 installed, but that refuses to connect with the Kobo. I got a portable version of 3.48 and that works. I wanted to install KoboTouchExtended, but it tells me that I need Calibre 5 or higher. Is there a place to download older versions so I can manually install it?

I found a thing called Kepubify which works. I can convert them and just drag them over to the Glo without Calibre, but it's not so good with a series. It keeps them in order, but only by adding the book number before the title. Of course the only way I got the Kobo to have the series number was to add them to the Kobo, unplug it, let it find the books, plug the Kobo back in, add them again with Calibre, unplug it, and let it find them again.

Now I remember why my first and last Kobo erader was in a drawer.

Is there any reason you cannot update your Windows to Windows 10 64-Bit? What you have is one of the problems with running Window 7. It's obsolete and will not run some updated software such as calibre. So when you need newer software you msy be well and truly screwed. So go update to Windows 10 64-bit and then you can run the latest calibre.

All versions of calibre for Windows can be found at https://download.calibre-ebook.com/

If you so dislike the second connection required for series info to be added look for another pgaskin mod called Nickel series. See https://pgaskin.net/kepubify/

I built my computer well over a decade ago. It currently does what I need. To be honest, every operating system Microsoft has put out since XP just keeps getting worse and worse. I'd still be on XP if I could. I thought about building a new computer, but it's hard for me to justify spending $1,000 on something I'm just going to hate.

Honestly I was just looking to see if I could download an older version of KoboTouchExtended. I have a couple newer ereaders that both run on Android, so I can use my Moon+ reader Pro on them. They're both 7.8", so the 6" Kobo would be easier to throw in a bag.

All versions of Kobo Touch Extended can be found at the github repository. See https://github.com/jgoguen/calibre-kobo-driver/releases

Just download the version you want and do a manual install of it (Preferences | Advanced | Load plugin from file) and you should be all set.

Brilliant. Thank you very much. I wasn't sure which one to grab, so I just got 3.2.10 from 2020 and it worked. I still have to add them twice in order to have the series information to show up, but I'm better off than I was. I wanted kepubs because they're far more accurate with the page numbers and time remaining.

Do you know of a way to have the series info show up the first time I add it?

No, you only have to add books ONCE; ypu do need to CONNECT via USB twice; once to send the books and a second time to set series data.

However, there is a tool you can install on the Kobo that will add series data automatically. See https://pgaskin.net/kepubify/ns/ for NickelSeries thus avoiding the 2nd connect.

Since you've not used Windows 10, you don't actually know that it's better then Windows 7. I've used both. SO I know that Windows 10 is better then Windows 7.

If you have a muli-core 64-bit processor, you can run Windows 10.
