Two new Netronix Devices

Someone on Reddit has found two new Kobo devices listed in FCC filings.

Going by the numbers (as mentioned in the Reddit thread), these appear to be revisions to the Clara BW and Clara Colour. Unfortunately probably not a Libra 2 replacement.

I have to wonder, why is Kobo constantly updating their 6'' readers, but not doing anything about their 7''-8'' devices for years (besides ditching the b/w Libra altogether)? Do people buy 6'' readers that much more? The Sage is almost 4 years old by now, there is no b/w 7'' device at all... but the Clara is now basically getting an upgrade per year?

As I'm not interested in 6'' readers, I'm very disappointed with Kobo's decisions in recent years.

Kobo is really letting us down. They have no devices I can recommend to anyone.

I may recommend any of the latest Kobo devices, depending on what a person wanted.

I agree. The 6" readers are the cheapest and most sold devices, so they get more attention.
While the larger devices are more expensive, they sell fewer of them.
The 1st gen Elipsa is still in stock for many years now. But just guessing here.

When the word got out the the Libra 2 was being discontinued, it sold out really fast. That shows that people do want a 7" screen.

Many people want a BW 7". Many people want a color device. Many people are satisfied with the how the 7" color does BW content. Apparently, the Libra 2 sold out quickly. Kobo hasn't released a 7" BW Libra in over a year and apparently will be releasing new 6" readers.

Maybe Kobo doesn't see the 'many 7" BW enthusiasts' as significant/profitable enough to justify a color and BW 7" device? Time will tell.

I bet they do understand. Pretty sure Kobo has much better insight into how many Libra 2 units were left when they "sold out so fast".

10K+ bought in past month

I would say there's a call for a BW 7" Reader.

Is that good? Kobo sells a fraction of what Amazon does in the U.S.

There's obviously demand for a 7" BW reader but there might not be enough demand for 7" color and 7" BW eReaders from Kobo for them to have both.

Hi there! I'm the one that made the reddit post. Unfortunately based off of the item IDs I believe these are just for the updated battery on the two clara BW and color models. I went ahead yesterday and bought myself a used Sage on ebay to accompany my Clara BW when I realized it was unlikely to be for new models with larger screens.

There was a post on Reddit where someone mentioned that a new Sage is in the works but has been delayed until 2026.

I did find another Redditor who said a new Sage was in development from what a lil birdy had told them, but had been delayed to 2026. I contacted Kobo myself yesterday but the representative couldn't confirm one way or the other.

Thank you. Well, there's hope yet, in that case. I've been afraid that maybe Kobo has decided to only have colour 7-8'' models from now on. Let's hope that new Sage will be a b/w one, as Kaleido tech is unlikely to improve much in a year.

I'm hoping a new 7" B&W model comes in 2026 as well. It's more portable then the an 8" model.

I would like a Carta 1300 screen, 2000mAh (at least) battery, and a better processor. That would do for me.
