You may want to check in Windows Device Manager or use Nirsoft's USBDeView program to see what USB devices are attached and if there are any problems with them. If a device shows up as having an issue, just remove it and then reconnect to see if it then connects properly. For Device Manager, you will want to turn on Show Hidden Devices from the View menu to see disconnected devices.

Attach a USB cable between the Kindle and the Calibre PC.
Calibre should Discover the Kindle (it will show a connected to message on the status line). The first time, it may take some time for the initial Inventory of books found on the device. (The job wheel on the Calibre Status line will be active). Once that is completed (normally) later connections should happen pretty fast. Select 1 or more books: Use the icon with the big arrow to send to device. Not the location of the icons I show are where I moved them. The Icon with the word Kindle is the Device View icon, that lets you see the USERS files (those not in protected areas). Right click either icon: Eject when done sending (important) That is it |

Hi,
My apologies to all. Even though I tried multiple cables trying to connect Kindle to my laptop and Calibre, I tried one I found in another container and it worked! I now need to go through all my cables again to check if I missed others. The one I have working (and any other I find that will also work) will be labelled and separated from them rest! Never been so pleased to finally find the most common answer. Sorry, and thank you for all your suggestions. |
