Ahh, that makes sense.

I plan to eventually allow From KFX to support conversion of multiple books via a background job so that the UI is not tied up during conversion, but I do not have a time frame for that. Other things are keeping me busy at the moment.

Query, a kfx-zip file should be able to be converted in an up to date Calibre with the up to date input plug in shouldn't it? Because it won't convert to epub (therefore won't de drm)

The amazon purchased fiction ebook was released for sale today. Published by Quercus.

I've used K4PC 2.4.70904

Odd. As far as I am aware K4PC 2.4.0 (70904) will not download ebooks published after April 22, 2025.

I was so eager to get the ebook that I jumped straight in and bought it from amazon. Kobo still has it as pre order, even though the release date is today.

My bad for even considering amazon!

Oh, you're quite right, k4pc 2.4.70904 gave a notice to upgrade before it would download the ebook

Does the KFX Input + DeDrm pipeline still work for newly published books if I import the .kfx files from my Kindle directly?

I saw the date 22nd April 2025 being mentioned. But if I understood it correctly, it had to do with a block on a specific version of Kindle for Windows/MacOS against downloading newer books.

Could someone clarify for a low-techie noob?

Yes, you can import the books from your Kindle. Sadly, that may be why suddenly you can't download hardened DRM books such as textbooks and Indian language books on your Kindle ereader (iOS/Android Apps/Fire tablets only).

if you cannot download to your Kindle, you cannot remove the DRM.

Interestingly I now find (June 19th 2025) that some books I d/l to my K Paperwhite 12th Gen will not decrypt in Calibre anymore. They remain as KFK-ZIPs. This is with KFX Input 2.25.0 & DeDRM 10.0.9 under Calibre 8.4.0

Anyone else seen this?

I suggest that you generate a log of importing one of those books to find out the underlying cause. It may not be DRM related. (See "Assessing the results after importing" in the first post of this thread for details.)

One common reason for this type of failure is missing files due to an incomplete download from Amazon caused by sending multiple books to the device too quickly. Those can be fixed by removing the book from the device and downloading it again from Amazon.
