I just got a Note Max and plan to root it using "the usual way": downloading firmware, decrypt, use Magisk to patch boot, and then flash the patched image. Will this work here?

(Confused due to the discussion about edl tools, etc)

The ghosting is ridiculous. It truly feels like beta software at most and Boox should be ashamed of themselves for not fixing it by now.

It seems like an easy fix: the manual refresh using a gesture completely clears ghosting, but for whatever reason this is incorrectly implemented in both Neoreader and the rest of the system.

My guess is that implementing a fix for ghosting significantly worsens the battery life. The battery on the device is too small to begin with.

I would NOT recommend the device to anybody who's even a little sensitive to ghosting.

I would wait for an updated version of the Note Max unless you really need it now.

Thanks. Yeah, I was worried about the ghosting as I was almost ready to pull the trigger on buying the Note Max.

I guess I'll wait. Or maybe look at the Tab XC, I dunno.
