The information is out there. It's even here on MobileRead. That's how Sirtel found it. That's how I found it. Instead, we have a parade of people posting requests for links, drawing attention to this "news," like sending up a series of flares. If someone is truly incapable of finding it on their own, then PM Sirtel (or whoever) directly instead of posting your request publicly. Amazon has already blocked one method, and when the developer of another method posted about it, they said they figured Amazon would likely block it "soon" now that they've put it out there. This chain of "send me link" posts may contribute to a method's demise before you even figure out how to use it. Even the maintainer of the DeDRM plugin has gone underground, refraining from issuing an official new release out of concern that Amazon will simply slap it down. Finally, to be fair, by starting this thread I have made it easier for Amazon to keep track of these methods. I now regret confirming the existence of new methods in the first post. The method that can be done on a PC is not all that fast. It's rather slow and you have to do it for each newly publish eBook you buy. Also, you need to have a portable version of calibre installed as well as the regular version.

I tried plugging my ColorSoft into my Mac today to move some books over to Calibre. I can no longer see any of the books stored on the Kindle! There's a message on the screen when the Kindle is connected to the Mac that indicates that Mac users might not be able to see any files. It directs us to an Amazon URL. That page states that we have to install the Send to Kindle app to send files from the Mac to the Kindle.
I can still see files on my PaperWhite, at least, but I wonder when they will change that? |

You do need Calibre and a few plugins installed, and you can transfer the files. If your Kindle is 2024 or newer, you're largely out of luck. |

Is there a way to see the eBooks download from Amazon to a 2024 Kindle?

I thought 2024 E-ink Kindles were fine too. They didn't do D&T, but I thought I saw reports of them working for books downloaded directly to them.

The problem with the 2024 Kindles is that I cannot see how to get to the eBooks downloaded from Amazon. I don't know if a jailbreak would allow access. But if you have a new enough firmware, you can't jailbreak.

Et tu, Bluestacks?
I've been using a method I found here back in 2023 that allowed me to use kindle thru BlueStacks, but now I'm getting the message:
"Book not available on this app version This book cannot be downloaded on this device. Please try reading this book on a Kindle E-reader or with the free Kindle App on a different Android or iOS device." Is this also due to the change in download & transfer? |
