The battery on my Kobo Aura H2O lasted well. Last I used it, it lasted well enough.

But now with the trend of everything has to be thinner and lighter, we have the Elipsa 2E and Sage with sub-par batteries. Weight should be secondary to performance.

Agreed. And thinner eReaders means the substrate is more susceptible to twisting and breaking.
