Just spotted you're using the Verse Pro Color. Sorry, I don't think that device is compatible.

I've tried on my Era Color - it installs, and I can see Set as sleep in open with and in settings in boot/poweroff logo, but after I chose it, and select create - my device reboots but sleep logo stays the same - default pocketbook "sleeping cloud" logo.

How do I uninstall it now? So it would not appear in open with and boot/power off logo settings?

Remove these files:
/mnt/ext1/system/logo/offlogo/SetSleep.bmp
/mnt/ext1/system/logo/bootlogo/SetSleep.bmp
/mnt/ext1/system/config/handlers.cfg
"/mnt/ext1/system/bin/Set as sleep"

Then reboot

@neil_swann80, I installed your script. I can choose SetSleep in Settings>Personalize>Logos, but I don't see an option to choose it via Open With to generate the files. BTW, after the install option Open With koreader disappeared.
Best regards.

I've written a simple binary that should make setting the sleep image as a book cover a tad easier.
It will also set the Boot Logo and Power-off Logo at the same time.
After the initial install manually change Settings>Personalize>Logos for both the Boot Logo and Power-off Logo to: SetSleep

Once installed you will be able to long-press on a book on your home or library view and select:
Open with > Set as sleep

This will create the sleep cover image and reboot the device.

Install instructions:
Spoiler:
Upload the attached file to the root directory of your device storage (/mnt/ext1) and rename it without the .zip extension, e.g. SleepScreen.pbi

After unplugging the USB (or a reboot) open the Library, select "Formats" from the drop-down menu, then select "PBI". Click on SleepScreen and choose install.

Manually change Settings>Personalize>Logos for both the Boot Logo and Power-off Logo to: SetSleep

With that complete, you will be able to long-press on a book on your home or library view and select:
Open with > Set as sleep
This will create the sleep cover image and reboot the device.

EDIT: Added functionality
Spoiler:
Added a dialog window with 3 options...

CREATE - Creates the sleep image from book cover and restarts.

RESTORE - Restores the sleep image to the default & restarts:

/mnt/ext1/system/resources/Line/old/taskmgr_lock_background.bmp
Attempts to first restore file above, if this file doesn't exist it restores the Pocketbook default.

EXIT - Exits without a restart.

EDIT: Removed as needs updating...
Dang, I was just going to redownload this file because it worked great, but it has been removed. Do you still have a copy that you can send?

Device: PocketBook Era (b/w) or Kobo Libra 2?
Does anyone know why it doesn't work on a brand now PocketBook Era (May 2025 bought), newest firmware update?

I did everything as in the instructions. Still the stock standard zzz image.

What I did:
  • 1264x1680 vertical + in reverse orientation for horizontal
  • background #808040
  • saved in BMP format as taskmgr_lock_background.bmp (and + _landscape for landscape)
  • created under "systems" the right folders and moved both there (see screenshot for proofs)
Please see the screenshots for proof.

Still stock standard zzz image, method not working, unfortunately.

Never mind, it worked!
Somehow, the Mac program Pixelmator does not convert rightly into BMP (even though it showed "convert to BMP" and was BMP format.
I converted with online tool and now it worked!
