Yes, way too often. I've worn contacts for >50 years -- originally hard lenses, then RGPs, then softs, and then RGPs again. And yes, I've occasionally had a lens float up and hid. Maybe a dozen times in those 50 years. This is a fitting issue, and one that should be addressed with your optician.

Why is it that when you subscribe to a newsletter or advertising mailings (either email and paper versions) you can do that and you'll immediately start receiving them. But when you want to unsubscribe it can take weeks before you stop getting the mailings.

We still got a couple of paper mailings at the old address. My parents said they had unsubscribed them but they still came. This week there were two and mailed one (supplier) and got a confirmation of the unsubscribtion, but that it could take six weeks for the mailings to stop (they send their sale mailing every two weeks). The other was for a clothing store. Over a year ago I had called them to unsubscribe my mother. They tell you you can still get one or two mailings, because they are already printed). And it stopped, for a while. Until my mother ordered some clothes, send to her new address and the mailings started again at the old address.

Hopefully both will stop, eventually. We never look at the paper mailings anymore, so it's just a waste of paper and postage.

I report spam if I get a newsletter after I unsubscribe.

All I can think of is that I was using eye-drops to combat allergies. Never had issues with them before with the pollen before (or at least I'd never associated pollen with my running nose and watering eyes), but I'd been trying different options. Initially Claritin which had advice to remove lenses before applying, and then Bausch and Lomb Soothe which claimed no need to remove lenses.

The need for them seems to have died out so lets wait and (hopefully) see.

Oh have I got news for you! Try signing up for an email alias or you could use something like Kill the Newsletter to get those newsletters in an RSS feed (yes, they're still a thing and having a bit of a revival).

I use Fastmail which has a masked email service. If I am not sure I will want to continue receiving a newsletter or using a service I create a masked email and use that. If I no longer find the newsletter or service useful, I can either block the masked email or delete it entirely and voila. They don't have my real email address and I no longer receive their spammy emails. Win for me, lose for them but who cares.

Thanks for the tip.

Although email newsletters aren't the biggest problem. There has only been one newsletter that kept coming even after unsubscribing several times and I ended that by requesting my account to be deleted at that web store.

The biggest problem is getting paper mailings. There are several (online) clothing stores where I've requested they cancel sending me their paper catalogues and mailings. It works, until I shop there again and it starts up again (being plus size the number of stores I can shop at is limited).

My other complaint is that you can sign up to mailing in seconds but if you want to unsubscribe it can take weeks. For paper mailing I can understand; the next one or two mailing might already have been printed. But for an email newsletter I think it shouldn't take weeks before they stop sending you those.

One of the first days in a long time it's been warm enough first thing in the morning to open my office windows to let in some fresh air and birdsong; and of course the neighbor has chosen the same morning to bring in a huge crew to remove trees, grind stumps and chip branches. Yay me!

I used to use an email forwarder called Bigfoot. It worked until it didn't and then I had to deal with the problem. I had to change all of the actives Bigfoot addresses. This is why I won't use an email forwarder. I especially won't use one I have to pay for.

With Gmail, can also yourname+something@gmail.com. This can be used for filtering and determine where a spam leak came from.

Cat's are not in charge. Not in the least. if you want a pet that's in charge, you want a Pug.

All hail the mighty Pug.

Oh dear. Don't you mean all hail the Rabbit? Excellent at nibbling through electrical extension leads and plunging the house into darkness.

Or rats?
I've seen an extension cord eaten completely through into two pieces and no sign of a dead rat.
