Not signed by developer on DXG
I’m getting the same “not signed by an registered developer” message. Kindle DXG with 2.5.8 firmware. Using kindle-jailbreak-0.13.N-r18833 and started with mkk 20141129 then tried the updated one from the last few weeks (dev certs 20250419). Kual v2.7.37 gives that error message. Also tried a factory reset. Also tried updating the time using usb networking. Did the fake register since this is a 3g only device.

The old KUAL version stopped working because the keystore expired. You can get around that just by setting your Kindle's clock back to a date before it expired. I got my K2 working again by setting the clock back a few years, using the old MKK and not installing the DevCerts update, and using KUAL v2.7.35. |

Where can I get older versions? I don’t see them on the sticky thread or via google. I’m a new user, I don’t have any old versions previously downloaded.

[Fix for]K2i Owners: If you are reading this, it's likely already too late for you...
... So let's just go ahead and help you fix that.
First things first, everything is going to be fine. In good time too, so put some sliced bread in a toaster and by the time its done toasting your access to KAUL will be sorted. You just need to (1) purge the April 2025's DevCerts keystore and KAUL 2.7.37 (KUAL-KDK-1.0.azw2 in our case) from your device, (2) set the date of your K2i to a day that agrees with the old Dev certificate keystore then (3) reload KAUL 2.7.35 (luckily that is still KUAL-KDK-1.0.azw2 for us humble legacy folk). For your benefit I have attached a binary file (update_k2i_kual_fix.bin) in the zipped folder attached that takes care of the new keystore deletion step and then sets the date to one that is compatible with the old certificates (and KAUL 2.7.35). Drag and drop that onto the root directory of your K2i (follow the standard update procedure from your settings menu to let it do its thing) and you're halfway there. Your next move is to replace KUAL-KDK-1.0.azw2 in your /documents directory with the one from KAUL 2.7.35 (also in the zipped folder attached). Once that is done, take a beat to step back and breathe in all the fumes from the toaster. If its still working, so are we. If it is not, that's too bad (because this is a K2i helper instructional) and maybe after this works you will make space on your K2i for your toaster's instruction manual. Now all you need to do is drag and drop the binary that loads in the old certificates (Update_mkk-20141129-k2i-B003_install.bin from the zipped folder) in your root directory and run it as an update. Sorted. Open KAUL. It might throw an error on the first go (it did for me and it even had the audacity to call it an "unexpected error"-- which explains nothing) but who knows you might get lucky and be allowed in first try. If it didn't open KAUL and it threw you that error, slap the same button again to actually open KAUL 2.7.35. It worked for me hey it might work for you. TL;DR

Good Day!
I have PW1 with fw 5.3.3 and latest K5 JB. When Im trying to use KUAL by copying KUAL-KDK-2.0.azw2 in documents folder there is an error "This item is not signed by an authorized developer. Please contact the developer" What I've tried and it didnt help. - new certs from here https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh....php?p=4506164 with Update_mkk-20250419-k5-ALL_keystore-install.bin file - downgrade KUAL to v2.7.35 Is there any way to resolve it? PW1 is pretty old, and there is no other way (that I know) to read on this device |

Since you've already installed the jailbreak and DevCerts update, all you should need to do is install the 5.6.1.1 firmware update and use KUAL v2.7.37. Quote:
After the firmware is updated, PW1 can still connect to Amazon and get books from the Kindle Store. |

Thank you! Will try today to upgrade to 5.6.1.1. I have problems with Amazon Registration and thought that book is absolete and I can't do that. |

So current situation is
- upgraded to 5.6.1.1 - installed JailBreak-1.16.N-FW-5.x-hotfix.zip - copied KUAL v2.7.37 to documents folder and now little different error "The permission to open this item have expired. Please contact the developer." Tried to use Update_mkk-20250419-k5-ALL_keystore-install.bin, but it doesnt work on 5.6.1.1, update menu is unavailable |

Copy "Update_mkk-20250419-k5-ALL_keystore-install.bin" into "mrpackages" folder and then type ;log mrpi into the search bar and execute the search.
Also don't use KUAL "kindlet" (.azw2 file that you copy into documents) instead use the bin installer to install (the same way you installed mkk/Devcerts) "booklet" variant of KUAL. |
