Please ask questions about the key extractor at Sats' github repository: https://github.com/Satsuoni/DeDRM_tools/discussions

Right. Not sure if it applies to "details" or not, please delete if so, but a note:
bustacap and myself have discovered Kindle for PC 2.7.1 sometimes downloads files in AZW3 format (which I mistakenly called "maybe mobi"). Those work with normal dedrm. Before asking me about a particular book, please check if it is KFX in the first place. There is no particular rhyme or reason, and even a comic book released in May 2025 might not use latest KFX. Edit: I will open discussions on github for a bit. Do not expect it to last please. Last edited by Sats; 05-22-2025 at 06:48 AM. |

Thanks for your understanding. Info about which formats a particular bit of software downloads is fine.

As an FYI, in case you haven't heard of it (I only discovered it this week!), Freda is a book-reader that can read lots of formats, and even plays well with my calibre server.
Hopefully others will find this useful! Cheers; |

![]() ![]() ![]() What I know about Windows could fit in a thimble (I'm a Mac person), but out of curiosity and for any Mac users who might be using virtual machine software, will this work on current versions of Windows (11??), or does x86 and 32 bit mean you need an older version of Windows? I.e., what versions of Windows will this run on? |

That's why I was thinking that KF8 (AZW3) might also be obtainable somehow. Because BlueStacks' K4A actually rejects KFX for some reason and can get a combination of KF8 (AZW3) and AZW6 instead. I was thinking that if we could figure out the detailed conditions behind this "some reason," we could get KF8 (AZW3) and AZW6 even with the latest version of K4A. It's just that you did actually do the same thing on the K4PC. Epubor must be thrilled to see your results. Quote:

I installed Windows 11 USA on purpose and get the same response (as on Windows 10 japanese).
Apparently the utility works only for the author. https://www.mobileread.com/forums/at...1&d=1747976560 Or it doesn't support Japanese editions, which is also likely. |

what's the arguments then?
when you run the utility, it says: 1. memory file 2 and 3 i been swapped and no result. If 1 was set not to memory, the utility did not work at all. And what is the error with Font? (it can be only in one case, there is no Japanese language support in the utility itself). If you try to specify purely file names that lie in the same folder = the utility doesn't work at all. What is the syntax of the utility? |

https://github.com/noDRM/DeDRM_tools/issues - this page opens when you try to ask a question And now a question: how do I refer to the author of fork and not the original author? (there is no answer in the moderator's words) Plus that books in Japanese on windows US don't load, hangs the download and after with an error terminates. https://www.mobileread.com/forums/at...1&d=1747991439 that's all the information given by the developer and I don't understand what the 3rd point is and where to get it. If mean the file I want to get, the author didn't write anything about the converter. If I specify only 2 parameters, the utility fails again. (Oh yeah, I don't understand anything at all about commands under DOS (initial linux system admin)) If you don't know the answer, your words about the wrong command are invalid. Laburge, See above. In particular, see screenshots here for correct usage. Note Japanese separators in command line, indicating, likely, Japanese system.
Also, at least 3 people, to my knowledge, have used provided utility successfully, so it is not limited to myself. |

Usually questions are asked on github in Issues, then the author of the topic moves the question to Pull requests or closes (this is the first time I've seen questions asked in discussions). I'm still in the key stage and don't have a key yet. Thanks for the answer. Last edited by Laburge; 05-23-2025 at 06:06 AM. |
