Kobo Libra Colour Issues
Hi, I bought a Kobo Libra Colour a few weeks ago, and I love it...when it works.
After about a week, the device becomes almost unusable and I have to factory reset it to get it to work again. Pocket articles will stop syncing altogether, and the 'My Google Drive' and 'My Dropbox' items in the 'More' menu disappear as well. Does anybody know how to fix this? I don't think I want this device if I have to do this once a week. Sometimes, it only lasts a few days before I have to factory reset it again |

Have you trioed a power off / power on cycle rather than a reset?

Yes. Multiple reboots, I've tried forgetting all networks and reconnecting to my network. The only thing that seems to work once it starts doing 'failed to sync' and google/dropbox disappear is a factory reset.

If a factory reset fixes it, sounds like your database is getting corrupted.
Do you ever plug it into USB? That can cause this. (Rebooting before plugging in USB usually prevents problems with this bug.) If you aren't using usb with the device, possibly the internal SD card in the device is having hardware issues. |

The exact nature of the bug is that some random thing (there are several candidates) running on the kobo keeps a file open and prevents the disk from being unmounted by kobo before it is exported to USB.
The result is that two devices are modifying the disk at the same time which can lead to filesystem corruption. The most likely file corrupted in this case is the encrypted sqlite file that contains passwords and authentication tokens, which is why your wifi, google drive, etc., stop working. The most likely thing to keep a file open is the reader itself. Some people say exiting to the home screen helps. (I'm sure it does at least sometimes.) Rebooting makes sure there is nothing else left. I have a NickelMenu entry that forceably turns off wifi and reboots. |
