It will break again. Why. Because it allows kindle unlimited books. No faster away of getting Amazon to close a hole. They will have to have several other options for customers if they are going to survive .

Don't imagine it will work again unless DeDRM is updated.

The above was in reference to of Kobo DRM changed, but the same should apply to Amazon DRM? I have my doubts. Let's see how quickly "as soon as it changes" means.

Right. I guess I will "poke the bear", so to speak. I have developed a crude utility that, at least for me (caveats below), allows to extract keys for the books downloaded by Kindle 2.7.1(70978). I have put ability to ingest resulting "keyfiles" into my deDRM fork. As this is the first time I touched PyQT, it looks rather slapdash. Repo also has source code of the utility, while the (pre)release has a copy of executable, sans runtime. It was compiled in VS2022. Now, I am being a little vague, both intentionally and because I suck at explaining things. Also, I was going to put in some details about its usage here, but that might go against "too detailed" rule of this thread. And I don't want to post too much on github, for no good reason. So, well. People who can guess, will guess. Caveats/notes:

Run K4PC, not sure if opening a book is needed but wouldn't hurt. Then open Task Manager, right click on the Kindle (32 bit) app and select Create memory dump file. I added the created keyfile to the DeDRM plugin and it works with K4PC 2.7.1 on the two books I tested. Last edited by DNSB; 05-22-2025 at 01:01 AM. |

https://www.mobileread.com/forums/at...1&d=1747900961 That I select a file that is open in K4PC, that I select a file that is not open in K4PC. I get this answer all the time. Tried to run specifically on Windows 7 X86 and I get the same response. What am I doing wrong? (or Japanese operating system does not support this solution)

I don't understand what special conditions are needed for this utility.
