There is no way I would go back to a reader that's low-res, slow, has no touch screen, and either is very slow when opening hi-res images or crashes.

I didn't realize the price of PocketBooks had gone up so much on Amazon. A Verse Pro is now selling for $185, I think when it was first released it was either $159 (or $149?), with sales at $139. On Techinn they're advertised at $157 (plus $12 shipping).

They also sell the other current models.

I've never bought anything from them so can't (personally) vouch for the store.

Yep. That's your choice. Others choose differently.

Choice is good.

Please keep us informed, when you change the battery. I don't know if the thermistor issue affects the 505, too. If it works for you, I like to know which brand you used.
Cameron Sino 750mAh Battery... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M9CIS4G...p_mob_ap_share

That was the battery I ordered. It comes with screwdrivers and a pry tool but the pry tool is a little flimsy. The screw drivers are fine but aren't magnetic so they are limited use.
The battery is slightly fatter than the stock battery but it fit fine and didn't make a bulge. The wires are stiff but there is a little gap they can be poked into. I found it easier to plug in the battery poke in the wires a bit and then set the battery.

Battery came in today. I never want to change the battery again.

Unscrewing and prying everything off wasn't a problem. Stiff battery wires weren't a problem. The ribbon cable door broke when I went to lift it off. Not much of a problem. That got reattached with scotch tape. Why they put a piece of plastic over the ribbon cable switch connection I have no idea. Nor why the long flimsy arm is there next to said connection it just gets in the way and makes it harder than it should.

All of that paled in comparison to sliding in the final inch to half inch of screen/motherboard. It kept getting stuck somewhere in the case towards the bottom. Kept sliding the board out and pushing back in and nothing. I eventually got it in and lo and behold the buttons don't work. Yay. Slide it back out and the ribbon cable was at a slight angle in the connection. Pushed the door up to re sit cable and pop goes the door. Hooray. Taped it back on made sure the buttons worked which they did this time and shoved it back down again. Again gets stuck. Again pull out. Wiggle it back down and nothing stuck again. This time I stuck the spudger in the bottom part of the case and pried up slightly. Bingo was his nameoh! Board slid down and I popped everything on then remembered the L shape pieces from the top. Took off the top stuck the L things on
re attached everything and finally I was done.

None of the videos I saw mentioned getting stuck when sliding back down into the case nor the solution. Just that bit of information would've saved me the headache of trying to put it bac together.

Congrats to a successful repair!
Is it charging?
I bought cameron sino batteries for 350/650 some time ago. They did not work. But inspired of this thread I recently bought 2 other brands for my 350. One of them worked
The brand is "Cellonic". Not sure if it is an old stock and I was lucky to the get the last working ones.

I know you've done the battery swap, but see if this video might have helped.

Thats the video I followed when I did the swap. No mention of the problem I ran into where the board kept getting stuck.
The thing I've found with newpower99 vids is they use previously taken apart things. They don't mention anything about what you as the first person opening your device might encounter when working on it.

Charged it fully once I was done. Shut it off last night then turned it on today. Still full black blocks on the battery. The old battery would turn off with full blocks and turn on with like one or two showing.
Update:
My only problem is now the page forward button on the right side isn't working now. It worked last night so I have no idea. I'll take it apart again once I'm home. All the other buttons work.

Now (hopefully) it all works

The non working page forward and 8 button have been fixed. It was a too tight back screw apparently. A few turns to the left and the two buttons started working.
