I've no need to do that having grown up near nac mac Feegle places. And people that drink girders. The deep fried Mars bars are though almost mythical.

I've only bought the Tiffany books as ebooks (when on offer) as I already have all the books on paper, mostly bought as they were published in paperback, but some (5) in hardback.

I'd never buy audio books now. In the past I'd occasionally listen to a book (not a dramatic production) on BBC R4 and then if any good I'd buy and read the book. I discovered decades ago I can't listen to an audio book and do something else, especially drive. I did try them from the library as well as the ones on BBC R4 and once bought a few of Narnia, but they were distracting with added music.

My daughter reads a lot of Fantasy and prefers books to the Movie versions. She says her BGI is better than Hollywood CGI effects. Brain Graphical Interface.

The people I recommend to start with one of the arcs too are unlikely to enjoy The Colour of Magic as much as say, Guards! Guards!. So far I haven't heard any complaints about those recommendations.

My opinion is that life is just too short to listen to audiobooks when your eyes are still fully functional. I tend to get engrossed with the book so not something I can do while driving or any activity requiring concentration.

I started with Guards! Guards! and read that arc first.

I read The Colour of Magic, didn't enjoy it and haven't read any more Discworld. Possibly I'd think otherwise if I had started with some other book.

As to audiobooks, I don't listen to them, ever. Listening just isn't something I enjoy.

I started with The Colour of Magic and then The Light Fantastic. I didn’t read anymore until a friend recommended Small Gods (#13 I think). The improvement in Sir Terry’s writing was very noticeable and I started reading the series including going back to read the earlier books.

The only other thing I can do while listening to an audiobook is take the dog for a walk. But I mostly listen before going to sleep while in bed. The GraphicAudio books are just like listening to a BBC R4 production.

The best productions BBC R4 ever did was the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy books.

I started from The Color of Magic (US title). And went on from there in order. I'm very glad I did. It does not spoil the series and makes it much more enjoyable.

However, if you don't want to read The Colour of Magic and The Light Fantastic, you can watch the movies. They are excellent and David Jason makes a rather good Rincewind. Then you can start reading Equal Rites featuring Granny Weatherwax,

I've seen The Colour of Magic movie. While it wasn't bad, it's not something that made me want to continue with Discworld.

I might read Guards, Guards! some day, as I liked the description. But I'll never read the entire Discworld series. Just not my cuppa.

If you get the chance check out Hogfather - the casting was (imo) note perfect and to this day Michelle Dockery of Downton Abbey fame is still Susan Sto Helit to me
