That's not why in this case. The problem is that the Kindle does not respect line height of a small enough value and thus you cannot lower the raised line height. So you cannot lower the raised line due to a raised letter on a Kindle or Kindle app.

Any software that reads ePub and respects line-height will allow you to fix the line-height for a raised letter.

Well, I find it bothers me less than expected. This strikes me as a bit of "The Princess and the Pea" phenomenon. I'm more relieved by the uniformity I've achieved across the formatting of these novels than I am troubled by the disparity in line spacing. So, I can easily live w it.
