TL;DR: If you're happy with KFX-based EPUBs, you can get BookFab Kindle Converter and strip the DRM from Kindle books released after April 22nd. They are legit – they've made short work of the latest KFX-ZIP DRM.

DeDRM is not compatible with the latest KFX-ZIP DRM.
For Kindle books released after April 22, 2025, K4PC will only be able to download them if it's an upgraded version that supports KFX-ZIP DRM. Additionally, the K4A BlueStacks method to circumvent this will stop working after May 26, 2025.
Therefore, BookFab Kindle Converter is currently the only solution for removing DRM from future Kindle releases.

Oops, I'd forgotten Kindle E-Readers method for getting AZW3 or KFX files. Anyway, jhowell is predicting that AZW3, at least, will be locked down by the end of this year. And as for KFX, it'd be pretty strange if it *doesn't* get upgraded to KFX-ZIP DRM sometime soon.

We don't know that. It depends on what Amazon does. For now, I can remove DRM from eBooks downloaded with one of my Kindles.

It works fine with K4PC version 2.3.0 (70673), allowing you to download books released after April 22nd.

Don't you need a newer version of Kindle for PC to download books published after April 22? DeDRM works up to 2.4.0 (70904).

K4PC refuses downloads, but you won't run into that with BookFab Kindle Converter.
It just uses K4PC for authentication, and the BookFab Kindle Converter app itself takes care of the actual download.
Once it's set up, you don't even need to keep K4PC open.

However, DVDFab is a team with the technical prowess to crack KFX-ZIP DRM.
It's a very plausible scenario that Rakuten Kobo could upgrade its DRM at any point in the future, which would then render Obok inoperable.
