mods simply stopped working

Hello,

Ok, this is weird, I've had my first gen Paperwhite jailbroken for like a decade and I didn't have any issues. When from time to time, something stopped working, I just reinstalled it and everything was fine.

Heres my specifications: PW1 with firmware 5.3.3
I just (re)installed jailbreak 1.16 to make sure that wasn't the issue. Before that, I had an earlier version, I think 1.14.

I had mkk k5 installed and also reinstalled it now multiple times.

I've had the screensaver hack running and it's also back to working fine now.

The big issue is the collections manager. I can't open it anymore because of the authorization error message. I know it says in the troubleshooting to reinstall mkk, which I did multiple times but it doesn't solve the issue.

I then tried if I could add other mods so I added KUAL, which I never used before. I also can't open it and get a similar authorization error message.

It's baffling. It's been working fine for many years. Any idea what happened?

Oh and I also use backdoorlock so I don't think any outside thing could have caused this. I did not make any changes prior to it not working anymore.
Ugh... I miss my nested collections... Any thoughts are much appreciated.

@liv86 My guess would be that the reason it has stopped working is that maybe / probably Collection Manager has the same issues that KUAL had after 17th of April: the developer.keystore used to sign it (KUAL) has expired on that particular date.

https://bitbucket.org/NiLuJe/ktcolle...gr/src/master/

KUAL being much more widely used by people here on MobileRead has already been updated. Collection Manager apparently wasn't

You could maybe try asking @NiLuJe if he can release a new version of Collection Manager since @ixtab hasn't been around this forum for ages.

As for getting KUAL to work: you'll need to update both DevCert/mkk (since jailbreaks & old hotfixes haven't been updated with new developer.keystore) and KUAL itself.

Read this:

And download KUAL (the non-"coplate" version should be used for your old firmware) from here:

Thank you!

Yup, I read some more and found the newest posts in the Snapshots thread. I followed the advice from there. My Kindle is now running with firmware 5.6.1.1, KUAL works and I decided to install Koreader after avoiding it for ages. Guess that was my cue to try something new, haha.
Since Koreader already has nice collection functionality I don't need the old Collections Manager anymore. Thanks for pointing me in the right directions.

KOReader doesn't support nested collections IIRC?
And as far I could tell there isn't a way to automate creating KOReader collections based on Calibre tags / columns? Only something based on folders?

As for nesting, I just tried and it's working. But, yeah, I'm not doing anything automated here. Just creating folders where I like them. I heard it's supposed to work like that for Kobo, to create collections from tags. But on this very elderly Kindle, it doesn't. Or I just don't know how.
