Wifi + Time issue w/ PocketBook InkPad 4

I have a brand new Inkpad 4 running Koreader. The device itself is connected to the internet. A quick browser search confirms this. But on Koreader there doesn't seem to be a connection.

Under Settings > Network > Network Info - I get a Gateway Ping failed message

Wifi is showing as on in Koreader. It is running the latest version (Full Moon)
PB software is U743g.7.8.4143 (assuming thats the latest as it updated when I first got it)

Another issue I'm having is the time is unable to be changed. The device main menu shows the correct time, but in Koreader the time is 8 hours ahead. When I try to change the time, it says "Current Time: " and displays the same time without changing.

If anyone could help me or point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.

Wifi: open a ticket on github. That's the way to figure out the subset of devices and firmware versions that are affected.

Time: embedded devices might ship broken time. That's what happens on Kindles. It seems to happen on pocketbook too. Probably your timezone is shifted 8hours from CET or UTC and pocketbook magically "composes" your time based on device settings + universal time, instead of changing to the proper timezone.

If that's the case it cannot be fixed with proper code. It might be fixed with "magic hacks". Who knows?

Setting date/time on pocketbooks is expected to fail because we're not root there and those things require elevated permissions.
