Books have vanished in the new Kindle Scribe

(FWIW, calibre failed to make a .mobi 'PDOC' even though that conversion option was selected.)

The Python script does work as advertised, and AZW3 shows cover thumbnail as expected with CDEType=PDOC.

But to extent that I side load, I use KFX and not AZW3; the inconvenience of setting AZW3 as PDOC is just one more reason for this preference.

Before sending the book through "send to Kindle" first I normally add the side book to Calibre and then perform some small changes on it (line spacing and things like that). Maybe this is the problem? I should send the side book directly using "send to kindle" without making any change/transformation on Calibre? Maybe the program automatically adds some info on the book (ASIN and so on) which causes the issue?

No, that should not be the issue. Lots of people edit their books in calibre and then use Send to Kindle.
