Help please, Oasis, Collection and Calibre

Hi, well, as many know, Oasis is a problem with the amazing Collections Plugin and I have tried several other ways to get my collections into Calibre without expending 5 or 6 days to do it and I just can't!!!

I read fanfics, the few books I have are really well separated, the fandoms where I have few fanfics are not a problem but the ones from my favourite fandoms?? Nightmares!!

I have Collections in my Oasis that deal with Read fanfics, favourite fanfics, I have 4 Untamed favourite fanfics collections 'cause I can't have more than 250 fanfics by collection, so yeah, I have 4 Unread Untamed fanfics collections, so yeah.

I have Favourite novels, read novels, unread novels, etc and I can't separate them 'cause I have them from different times, authors and everything!!

Does anyone know a way to really get my Oasis Collections into Calibre, without jail-breaking the kindle??

I'm not really good with tech stuff, except for searching for stuff and I don't want to destroy my Oasis, 'cause is my sanity you know!!

The Oasis will need to be jailbroken. No other option.

I worry, I don't have the money to buy a new one, will it be a problem to work with my Amazon account if it's jailbroken?

I have no idea what happens afterwards, I have never done anything like it in all my 50 years of life!!!

If you use WinterBreak to jailbreak your Oasis, you can revert back to the Amazon store once the jailbreak is completed.

See the Introducing WinterBreak - Better Late Than Never thread for more information and check the Kindle Modding Wiki: Winterbreak for the step by step process.

If you are not comfortable with the process, you might be better off avoiding jailbreaking.

See the 2 links in my previous message quoted above. Also read the last sentence. Jailbreaking is not without it's risks and doing so may be above your level of tolerance.

Manually is how you have to deal with collections without being jailbroken.

Whyever did you buy a Kindle if you wanted automatic collection management via Calibre? You should have bought a Kobo. Unless they're unavailable where you live, of course.

I was unable to buy a Kobo when I got this Kindle, 3 years ago. In the past year I had a lot of issues with my collections, so I had to really think about what I wanted to do with everything I have in my Calibre and my kindles.

Also, I had a kindle for as long as I have had an e-reader, I loved my kindle keyboards until they really started to get so slow and when the Oasis, with the buttons appeared I was fast to get it.

Thanks for the idea for a Kobo, if I ever had the money to get one I'll try it!!

I too used Kindles for a long time. They're good devices, but modern Kindles (and that includes the Oasis) are so locked down that you can't do much with them unless you jailbreak. Amazon wants to control everything you do with your device. That was one of the reasons I switched to Kobos - they work much better with Calibre and don't require jailbreaking.
