I've never had a Kindle, and since the PC option is locked down my question:

If I buy an Amazon Kindle PaperWhite 2012 it has a resolution of 758x1024 and in this resolution I will have all the books from this device or during the conversion you can increase the resolution (I want to have color pages as it is there are in manga and novels, not all black and white) |

There was no new Amazon DRM implemented a week ago. K4PC 2.40 just no longer downloads new books. 1.17 shouldn't download any books published after 2022, but you can still remove the DRM from books published before 2023 with it.

I see from your post history that you asked about running the Kindle app under Wine. Is that what you are doing? Last edited by jhowell; 04-29-2025 at 11:42 AM. Reason: Added another question |

IIRC the previous cutoff for these books was somewhere around Oct 2024, not "before 2023" as stated in https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=361503 . That was when I had to switch to 1.39. It would be more interesting to know if you can download books after Oct 2024 or Apr 2025. |

K4PC 1.17.1 (44183) can now download Kindle eBooks published before April 22, 2025 without any problems. This is the same limitation as the more recent version 2.3.0 (70673). I confirmed this with Windows 11, version 23H2.

Surprisingly, they applied the new limitation to all previous K4PC versions, so it appears that previous K4PC versions are "back." Of course, that version doesn't support KFX, so you'll receive KF8 (AZW3) always. |

When it comes to English-language eBooks, what you're saying is correct. |
