Thats kind of similar to my sharp drop-off ($15 CAD is around £8, so a bit more) seen in post #4:

It needs to be a book that I can't get out of the library and I know that I or my husband will read right away.

Or a book that is in the library but that I know that I'll reference multiple times.

My reasonable price point depends on genre and format. My budget permitting, I'm willing to pay a lot more for a art book or academic level nonfiction then for pop nonfiction or fiction.

I usually borrow from the library but the couple of times I wanted to finish a series I did purchase at full/current price. As others have said, the cost isn't budget destroying.

I paid $15 recently for one that would be a long library wait, but that's rare.

I'll pay full price for a book if it's the next book in the series and I'm going to start reading Right Now. This is when the series is one I expect to reread.

I recently paid full price for two books for my book club; the waitlist was too long at the library. I don't think I'll read either of those books again.
