Is it just me or KOReader has much slower keyboard than kindle "default gui"?
Like when I'm typing "test" in my usual typing speed in input field I see only "t". It sometimes can swallow parts of words because I type a word faster than letters are adding to the input field, like 500ms between each added letter. Very confusing. And in "default kindle gui" I can type with no problem as fast as I want, everything works like a charm. Is it just me? Trying to figure out if it's worth a shot to backup KOReader, reset kindle and redo JB, or it's just the way it is and nothing can be done? I'm in total love with KOReader and prefer it to all other "reading apps" on iOS\Android I tried before. But this inability to type notes in adequate speed is on edge of being deal breaker because finally I have perfect device for fast touch type that allows me to add meaningful notes during reading. Or maybe there some "optimization" somewhere in config files that can be done to speed up processing of the input from keyboard? |

Be sure you have double-tap disabled.

Managed to do partial fix to my problem.
File gesturedetector.lua In function Contact:tapState(new_tap) changed line 498 from if buddy_contact and self.down then to if false and buddy_contact and self.down then Disabled double tap recognition. For some reason disabling it through settings didn't disable it in code. Now it's much better. BUT) I have problems with swipe gestures, quick typing of 3 letters triggers it... Like if I type HFG quickly, sometimes I get HFG, and sometimes HG or HF. And I'm like not that fast "touch typer". Very annoying keyboard logic... Disabling swipe in keyboard settings didn't fix it as well because that quick typing is still recognized like swipe. It's just ignored with disabled swipes for keyboard. So now I'm thinking if there is any okay-ish ways to change swipe detection logic so it can differentiate when it's quick typing and when it's a swipe... |

Looks like I can't edit messages. So will just leave an update here.
Didn't find any good solution to fix swipe issue. But today was reading a bit and wrote bunch of notes with "good enough" experience from that fix. Previously I had swallowed letters in like every 5-6th word in a note. Now - not even one letter was swallowed. That would be optimal place for me to stop. If anyone in the future will want to improve solution - please do share it here ![]() |
