I have a directory set up as the automatic adding folder. Epub files aren't being added, although others are being added just fine. I've checked, and epub extensions aren't being ignored.
I am running Windows 11, Calibre 8.3. Any ideas? Thanks, Tiggy626 ![]() |

Other than the setting BetterRed pointed out there is nothing in calibre that would cause it to not auto-add a particular file type. The only thing I can think of is file permissions on your EPUB files or they are opened in some other program at the same time as you are trying to auto add them in calibre, which causes windows to lock the files.

Well, it wasn't permissions, since I changed the file to have all permissions for all users.
I restarted Calibre after that to make sure the automatic adding would run right away, but it didn't work. I was able to manually add the file, so I don't see any reason why automatic adding wouldn't work. I haven't modified much of anything, except adding some columns and adding passwords to personal.ini. I'm pretty sure it worked after my changes, so I don't think it was anything I did. I might just have to manually add epub files. Bleah. Oh well. I really love Calibre by the way. It's a great program that does so much! The only other problem I've had is that when the library information gets corrupted somehow, it takes forever to fix my fairly large library. That is just the way it works, I know, so that's not a problem I'm trying to get fixed... unless there is something I can do? All in all, though I love, love, love Calibre! Thanks for all the work you do Mr. Goyal! ![]() |

You could give it a try. Windows has a history of losing track of File System Watch services. Quote:
By 'fix a my fairly large library' I assume you mean via the Restore database feature, or rebuild a library via Add Books from folders. I've been using calibre for well over a decade and I have never needed to do either on any of my libraries. I have 9 libraries, one has over 170,000 'books', another (my Test library) has 81 custom columns. I also make extensive use of calibre://URL links within and between calibre libraries and with other applications and links to other application objects from within calibre. BR |

Thanks! Also, it imported an epub file by itself, after manually importing 400 or so. Without using JobSpy. Weird. |
