Many people prefer the Oasis over the PW, even the newest PW. Physical buttons and the ergonomic shape are important to them. Unfortunately none of the newer models has those.

That said, I wouldn't buy it for that price either, but then I wouldn't buy any Kindle as things stand now.

I don't even understand people using terminal programs on a device unless they are trying to debug ADB or something.
Anything else, just use ADB from the desktop.

If you only own just a single phone that may be an excuse.

If you go for a Kindle, get the PW3 instead of the PW2. However, if you want PDF, a 6" screen is too small.

A lot of people like the design of the PW5/PW6 and don't care about buttons.

Kindles don't have ADB. They run Linux.

I have done some work on the larger Boox readers. With Emacs + termux you can do a lot. It's not something I'd do at home, but travelling or on the patio of a coffeeshop it's not too bad.

You can put ADB (i.e. adbd daemon) on a Linux.
