I went back to 4.34 on my Sage (again), because the double page turns got so bad on the latest firmware that it was impossible to read. They happen much less often on 4.34. So that's where I'm going to stay.

But there's no gotchas on 4.38.23171. So it's worth it using it.

Not really. I don't see any difference with 4.34 other than far more double page turns. So no, I wouldn't say it's really worth it, even on other devices than the Sage.

I don't have any double page turns. So I say it's worth it going to the latest firmware.

Out of curiosity, when did Jon purchase a Sage to have the knowledge to be able to comment on double page turns when using a Sage?

He presumably means he has no double page turns on his Libra 2. I don't have them on my Libra 2 either. The Sage has always had buggy buttons, probably because of its hyperaggressive power management. I'm not a fast reader and use a smallish font with tight line spacing, so I don't turn pages as often as many others.

It doesn't bother me as much with my reading speed and my old eyes wanting larger fonts but a couple of people I know who also have a Sage run into the issue where the Sage goes deeper in power saving before they finish a page. It takes takes too long for the first button press to register, you get impatient and press again and then it gives you both page flips.

No, that's not what happens on mine. Yes, sometimes buttons don't respond, but that's a whole other issue. Double page turns are just that - with one press the page turns twice (it happens so fast that you cannot see it turn twice, you just discover it when you resume reading).

I haven't noted that on my Sage but I do remember complaints earlier about, IIRC, an issue which sounds like what you are mentioning.

It started after updating from 4.34 to some 4.38 version (I've forgotten which). Both buttons, both forward and backward page turning. It no longer goes away completely even after downgrading to 4.34 again, but it's less frequent with older firmware. On the latest firmware it basically did double paging all the time, so that reading became nearly impossible. On 4.34 it's still annoying, but no longer intolerable.

Even if I had a Sage, double page turns would not be an issue because I would not be using the buttons. This is an advantage to using the touch screen.

One other issue I do not have with 4.38.23171 is I do not have the problem with an open database when I plug into the USB. I've even tried while with eBooks open.
