I just noticed the is an unallocated part in the beginning of the sd as you can see on the attached screen dump. Is there a special way to restore the img file please? Should the sd be completely empty or does it write on top of a stock SD?

Hi,

The image does have an unpartitioned space like this and it's normal.
It contains binary blobs, a bit like the file you sent a few days ago.

Glad the project is getting revitalized! Sadly I've sold off my Glo HD in the meanwhile. If development does get back into putting out releases I may have to pick up another Kobo to try Quill with.

Hmm, having trouble scraping off the waterproof coating to solder wires lol. I tried to just push the pins after scraping a bit but doesn't look like it connected so I'll have to try again later when I get time.

Just to be sure, what am I trying to get the boot log of? The non-working Inkbox image or the normal Kobo boot? If I connect to the USB serial to TTL with PuTTY when turning on the device there's a boot log output or do I need to hold a button?

Just wanted to report my experience with my Kobo Clara HD (N249) and inkbox-2.0-n249_20240324.img.xz, which I flashed using both dd and balenaEtcher. In neither case I was able to boot to QuillOS; the status LED lit up but the screen did not wake from power off. I went back to the latest Kobo image.

Last I heard, the revision B of Clara HD was not supported. NiMa can correct me if this situation has changed.

You may be able to check the revision without opening the back, but I'm not sure - I do know my rev B Clara has the following output to command:

# ntx_hwconfig -s /dev/mmcblk0 2>/dev/null
...
[42] PCB_LVL='B'

I gave the board a direct look by opening the back (I had to get the SD card out anyway) and it said 37NB-E60K00+4A4, which should be okay.
