Actual conversation today.
"You're so young to have a stroke!!! Do the doctors know what caused it?" "A blood clot in my brain." EDIT: I wonder if I should said "high blood pressure from answering stupid questions." Last edited by ownedbycats; 04-03-2025 at 05:05 PM. |

Sorry about the stroke! Eek. But why was it a stupid question? I recently developed A-Fib, which I'm told is not terribly uncommon as the electrical system ages, and which put me at risk of stroke, even though my blood pressure is fine, so I was put on blood thinners. Presumably a stroke in someone who's electrical system has seen fewer birthdays may have different causes, like various types of injury. I mean, if someone asked what caused your house to burn down, sure, you could accurately answer "fire" but..... Last edited by ApK; 04-03-2025 at 05:45 PM. |

I had an MRI of my brain on Sunday. It was scheduled for March 11th but due to "equipment malfunction" they rescheduled for the 30th. I was not prepared for all the loud noises. I saw the neurologist on Monday. The MRI was normal for my age. I don't know what they expected to see, because concussion (which I had in swimming head to head collision on Sept. 3, 2024) doesn't show on MRIs or CT scans. I'd had a CT scan at the emergency room in late September.
This was my 2nd visit to this neurologist (first one I've ever been to) and she didn't do anything for me. At the first visit Feb. 24th, she said I was taking too much ibuprofen (two, twice a day, about 12 hours apart). So I tried not to take it and had a rough time for the next 5 weeks. The neurologist did refer me to a pain specialist (for my head pain), but I could only get February 2026 appointment. I will find another pain specialist or concussion specialist on my own. I will likely not get an appointment soon. I've been getting up too late to make the appointment yet. I was feeling to sick to do anything Tuesday. The neurologist wants me to see my primary doctor about the high blood pressure readings I got in her office. This isn't normal for me. It has happened when I'm nervous or agitated (got little sleep the night before this appointment) and my primary has seen this but has also seen normal reading in the same visits, and she didn't think I needed to do anything about it. Teh neuro also told me at the first visit to follow up with knee doctor, and this time she told me to see an ear, nose throat doctor. The MRI showed mucus in my sinus cavity. I told her I went to an ENT regularly in the 1990s to about 2007 and went to one in 2020 for stuffy ear. I do use a lot of tissues, but it's allergies and when I have a cold I take a mucus thinner to prevent infection. |

Getting up from chair for only 30 seconds, then returning to accidentally sit on the cat.

My dentist takes BP before treatment but uses a device that goes on your wrist while lying down. I always get readings that are much higher than the readings I get at the doctor or store complimentary stations or a home device. Generally I'm low BP 100-115, but I get 140 at the dentist. I'm not sure how much of that is "white coat" and how much their unorthodox measurement.

If you want to steal a credit card number, just keep the charge small. Capital One doesn't seem to care.

My email, ebay and Dominoes pizza account got hacked. Thankfully my paypal was not linked to ebay/that email and they were not able to purchase. They used my stored credit on dominoes to order $50 in food 1300 miles away from where I live and I could not get a refund via a dispute. I even called the dominos store in question

Someone stole my package from apartment lobby. Delivery tracking sent pic, not there when I went to pick up. Replacement earpads for older model of headphones so not much resale value. Shitheads.
Tempted to leave cat's dirty litter in sealed box. |

I once lived in an apartment and a package was left in the entryway instead of running the buzzer. We also ended up having the parcel stolen.
