Nope, wifi updates were trivial to block in the good old days, just create a directory with the correct name (no jailbreak required). That is hardly a hoop.

I don't know when PW3 got KFX, but I think significantly before 2019.

2019 was when kfx finally came to Kindle for PC/Mac. I believe it started showing up on Kindles in 2015.

eta: Actually looks like kfx came to Kindle for PC in 2017.
